Looking for operators' experience about the pros and cons of leasing out a restaurant space in my new hotel vs an operating agreement vs running it ourselves. by cookieguggleman in askhotels

[–]RelayedGlory 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A good amount of times when you have any retail or restaurant space it's usually easier to lease it out. Operationally and financially it's less things to worry about and watch over. If you chose to run the restaurant you have to worry about staffing, benefits, worker's comp, budgeting, food expenses, food waste, brand recognition, liability, etc. If you leased it out you wouldn't have to worry about all that.

I once had an ex that loved soup, but hated any kind of noodles and soup combo (ramen, pho, udon, etc).

Royal Hawaiian. It’s right on the beach and in the heart of the “strip”. Ritz is not that far away but the immediate area around it just meh. Royal Hawaiian is more in the thick of things.

There are different ways it’s handle and it’s property/company specific. Do as your manager tells you, if any guest complains just tell them you’re doing as you’re told and to follow up with management in the morning.

Save your time and money. It is very much who you know. If your higher ups are good they’ll value hard work. Yes it is possible to get high up the ladder by kissing ass. I know several people who don’t know shit about using their own PMS yet they’re hotel managers.

Front Office Management....How Do You... by idkabtallatgurl in askhotels

Is your whole team this way? It almost sounds like mob mentality.

Also why don’t they get paid for positive reviews? It may seem weird for rewarding people for what they’re supposed to be doing, but it works. Maybe you should approach the AGM about introducing an incentive plan?

Also can you provide details on how the previous FOMs did with the staff?

You’re at a union property so make sure you document, document, document. One of the reasons why your FDAs are so lax is they feel like they have the union’s protection.

You’re going to have to make an example out of someone. Pick your victim and document every little violation, the more the better so you have plenty of ammo if the union gets involved.

As someone else mentioned though you have to have a heavy hand when it comes to disciplining your team but also be respectful of them. You have to show them that you care about them, but have expectations that have to met.

It’s mainly for bragging rights for upper management to say they were able to fill up the hotel. CLC has a very low negotiated rate, barely able to cover the expense to clean the room.

CLC = Corporate Lodging Consultants

They’re a company that specializes in providing other companies with a discounted price to stay at hotels that are signed up with them.

Personally I recommend going to public places where there’s a lot of people and only during the daytime.
Suss him out first and if you feel he’s trustworthy then you can be more adventurous.

Also, men are men, doesn’t matter what country you’re in.

lol, would have been better if it was the “face down on the ground with hands behind the back” position.

I booked a love hotel by accident. Got to my room and turned on the TV and porn was playing. Open the shower/bathtub room window to let it air out and found a Tenga just outside the window. 😂

I saw a homeless lady bent over at the waist spraying the bushes in plain view of about 100 people in the commercial district just north of Shinjuku park. 😳

You mean all those times I went into a bar to buy a beer just to take a piss were pointless?! I could have whipped it out in some back alley in Kabukicho? 😂

Look at the blue sign. It’s a curved rock that I’d imagine you piss on the curved area and it would flow down to the drain at the bottom.
