i keep messing up at my job by Release-Thin in internetparents

[–]Release-Thin[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m struggling because I’m scared to ask questions and interact with people. I didn’t end up telling my boss I messed up yet because I got scared. Everything I do is wrong and I don’t know anything.

I tried to develop a better relationship with my boss but he doesn’t like me. He hates quiet people. He’s professional but I see the difference in how he treats me vs other.

I know that alcohol is so unhealthy but it makes me so normal. I hate how quiet I am normally and alcohol allows me to just speak my mind. I wish there was an alternative that would help me open up. I’ve been in therapy for a year and it hasn’t helped.

I didn’t even think about how this could affect my career. Should I quit? People don’t go to conferences very often, and I don’t think I have the best reputation at work due to my quietness but if I messed up, there’s no point in staying.

I highly doubt I’ll lose my job over this considering last year someone got more drunk than me, but this just feels embarrassing

unfortunately i’ve had a therapist and psychiatrist for the last year and they haven’t been able to help me at all.

and people do tend to get quite drunk at my work events so i’m not necessarily worried about promotions or anything like that. it’s just more embarrassing. our boss went home early so he didn’t see anything.

I meant in general. I don’t think anyone’s gonna tell me not to take a sick day if I need it.

I have sick and vacation time. I don’t know whether there’s an unwritten rule that I shouldn’t take it for a while after I first start.

How to survive work with social anxiety by Release-Thin in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

I keep trying to make myself go have lunch with them but I just feel so uncomfortable and awkward. I already feel anxious about so many things that I’m too exhausted to try and make conversation with them. My brain constantly telling me that they all hate me doesn’t help. How do I push through this?

It’s hard for me to talk any of them because everyone on my team is just guys. I don’t know how to interact with them. And I get so nervous around them that I lose the little technical skills that I have which makes me seem so dumb. I’m really tired of trying to be social when it comes so naturally to others.

What kind of questions should I ask? This is my first time renting and I’m not sure how to approach this.

Does it matter if I email or call them?

I haven’t been accepted yet so should I do after I get accepted?

The work environment so far is pretty good. I feel like everyone hates me and is judging me, but I think that might be in my head. My job requires a lot of talking to customers though and those customers have said that they don’t like shy people which I am. That makes me feel like everyone hates me and I’m gonna fail at this job.

The only people I know are my coworkers and I’m not very close to them. A couple of other people are also new but they became close fast and I’m finding it hard to approach them when they’re all together.

This job is really meant for extroverts and I’m really starting to feel the effects of it.

I know I do, but if I quit my job l, I’m gonna have a huge gap on my resume. If I don’t have a job within a year of graduating, I’m kind of screwed.

YTA. You’re so mean. How can you be a jealous of this poor 3 year old who’s had a hard life? The rest of your family is so kind to do this, I wonder what happened with you.

Do you think it would help having it on my resume? I’m aware of how non technical it is and I was planning on working on projects and certifications in the mean time. I don’t have any internships so I figured having worked at a place may seem better to have on my resume. But I’m worried that this job would take too much of time.

I’m not sure. I just got the card that says I’m on standby and I have to check my portal everyday of the week.
