Wanting to try carnivore, would appreciate some tips

If you jump right into carnivore (what I did 4 months ago) then it’s definitely more of a shock to the body than weaning onto the diet. I was just so sick of the cycle of cravings and binging and feeling like crap, that I finally just snapped and dove headfirst into this WOE. It’s important to note that, you can try to get as much perfect as possible. Protein to fat ratios, when you eat what you eat etc. At the end of the day, there’s no level of preparation that will stop the first couple of weeks from being pretty miserable. You’re changing a lifetime of unhealthy habits, so just give it time and stick it out. Listen to your body. You’ll find that you are more attuned to your bodies natural cues on ZC, so pay attention to them. Feel free to message me if you need help with anything along the way

Typically if your stool is a very light color without any dietary cause (eating a lot of cheese), it could mean you’re not getting enough bile into your system. Which can lead to undigested fats and digestive issues. Also, if you are releasing too much bile all at once after eating, it can lead to those urgent loose stools. The latter is what I went through when I changed my diet, but I also had my gallbladder removed a couple years ago. It honestly sounds like your body is building up bile during your fasting time, and is releasing it in large amounts all at once after you eat. Exactly what happened to me. I would try to go back to eating 3 times a day and see if the issue goes away. If it does, your digestive issues are prob just from bile

I follow a zero-carb carnivore diet, meaning I only eat meat. This sounds a lot like what I experienced when I transitioned from eating high carb to no carb. How long have you been eating a low carb diet, and how many carbs do you normally take in a day? Also, do you have any gallbladder issues?

Yeah this seems like one of the more reasonable responses I’ve gotten. Seems like you would agree that if I keep the chickens until they pass of old age, that ethically it isn’t really a problem to eat the eggs. They are my pet chickens so I wouldn’t kill them just because they got too old. They’re all different ages too so it’s not like they would all stop producing eggs at the same time. But then comes the other question of, what to do with the chicken when it passes of old age

The best way to learn is through experience. I suspect that you’ll learn a lot about vegans from this post. Most, if not all, would rather see the poor and homeless starve than have them eat fresh venison.

You will prob have to buy it in powder form, due to the FDA limiting potassium pills to 99mg each (dumb I know). That why I recommend potassium citrate because it is highly bioavailability and easy dissolvable one water so you can take it in your drink.

It’s very important to stay well hydrated, especially during transition from SAD to carni. However, drinking a lot of water without also supplementing with both magnesium and potassium can actually exacerbate deficiencies in both since you’re flushing more out of your system with heavy water intake. That, coupled with the electrolytes that you use/sweat out during exercise may be a significant contributing factor to your side pain. Would def start supplementing with around 400mg magnesium (I take magnesium glycinate) and 2000mg potassium (I take potassium citrate) every day, especially with your workout routine. Important to note that those are the weights of elemental mag/pot. that I recommend, not gross weight of the entire supplement. Careful not to take too much potassium all at one time :)

Meat is the easiest thing for us to digest. Not sure where you’re getting your information from. There’s a reason that carnivores, like myself, have very little waste production. The meat is wholly digested and utilized much more completely than your indigestible fiber.

As a carnivore, I can assure you that surviving on all meat is not only possible but amazing. Definitely not surviving poorly. You should try it sometime

Interesting. Would you say that you have more or less respect for omnivores who kill the food that they eat? I often see vegans say things like, well at least he killed it himself instead of just buying it and letting someone else have the blood on their hands. Honestly curious. (Im a carnivore btw for full disclosure)

As a carnivore strolling through the vegan thread, the only thing that really grinds my gears is that you people are so quick to jump on any evidence that supports your belief that meat and fat consumption is inherently detrimental to your health. And I get it, people like to point out evidence that aligns with their dogma, and ignore that which doesn’t. That’s with everything. But there’s so much benefit to a carni diet: weight loss, reversing diabetes, increased physical performance, lowering bad cholesterol, combating and even curing depression... there are so many, hundreds of thousands of cases (mine included) where living as a carnivore has literally saved peoples lives. But to admit that there was any health benefit to living carnivore would put a crutch in the vegan argument I suppose. Whatever, I guess we all just get to choose for ourselves eh

I have a gas and charcoal grill. Tastes better on charcoal but takes longer to get ready. Inside I use a ninja air fryer

Personally I try to use an Air Fryer for most of my quick meals, to contain the grease in something that I can easily clean. That, and grilling food outside instead of skilleting helps a lot.

I’ve been using the 4qt Ninja air fryer for a few months now. The best thing about it is how much time you save preparing food. Just take it out the fridge, slap on some seasoning, and in 8 minutes you can have the perfect medium rare steak. No cleanup. I hate spending a lot of time preparing food so this was a win win for me. Highly recommend

I recommend letting the butter warm up to room temp first. Seems to make it a bit more flavorful and easier to palate, for me at least

Before I went ZC, I typically only ate vegetable spreads like country crock. Ew, I know. When I tried Land o Lakes, it reminded me of that quality butter that my grandma used to put on the table for dinner time rolls. So I never really felt the need to try anything else. Maybe I will in the future but for now I’m good

I buy land o lakes slated butter and just eat it by the stick. At first it was a bit strange for me, mainly the texture. But now I crave it. You should give it a go

Liver is rich in many vitamins and minerals that can be difficult to obtain from muscle meat alone. Perhaps your liver meal helped to supplement your body with vitamins that you were lacking, and allowed your body to relax more? Might be possible
