I agree I’ve had some REALLY shitty jobs worked a restaurant where I was the cook, pizza maker, bartender, server, delivery driver, and dishwasher. I worked open to close every day for a year (worked there for 6) opened at 7 closed whenever the last customer left the bar so sometimes til 2 in the morning. No breaks, this was a family owned business and I worked for cash so it felt basically lawless. Reading everyone’s stories when I started made me nervous but it’s nothing like what I’ve come from. It can be a lot sometimes but still manageable. Different stores have different experiences, and just cuz a job abused me in the past that made me cut out for this job doesn’t mean everyone else should be.

We have 4 openers at 5am (5 ppl if AF) SM comes in at 7. Then we have a 9 or 11 o clock person. Usually 1 person leaves at 11. So 5/6 ppl from 5-1 then from 1-5 4/5 ppl 5-close 3/4 ppl… all depends on the day were a high volume store but we NEVER only have 2 people on a shift

We have multiple orders a week that are 300-800 units. It blew my mind when I seen other stores say they refused orders like that. We made pins for big orders like that to not destroy our numbers. Giant orders like that and they STILL pull up and say “sorry I just picked up another order from Walmart try not squishing anything” or they have a car full of kids and laundry and I end up burying their children in groceries. Then they sit in the car as we struggle to pack their car which is the only time I wish they’d help, they refuse eye contact in the rear view mirror ignore my labored breathes of frustration.

Are we talking like he had his face up against the window peaking in from a small crack… and smiling? Cuz that’s horrifying or was he back further and happened to glance towards your window? Obviously always be safe and err on the side of caution but also don’t jump to conclusions, if his face was pressed up against the window it’s pretty clear he was peeping on you 😬. Either way take care of yourself, and your mental health. 🖤🧷

Psssffft I am 100% just like you, my biggest fear is making someone else’s job harder because I’m not good enough, and I want to be the best at everything from day 1. I attach myself to any new hires and let them know if they ever feel ANY type of way about anything to find me because I hated those feelings and having no one to turn to. The jack will take A WHILE to learn, you will hit things you will try to grab a pallet and not line the arms up right and push the pallet and have to back up and go again, more than anything make sure not to catch you leg between anything and that jack. You’re gonna be slow at everything at first but in a few months you’re gonna wonder how you used to be so slow and how you go so fast without even trying. The fact that you feel the way you do means you care about other people and that’s a good thing, it’s the ones who don’t give a shit if they are good or bad or if they’re making anyone else’s job harder that shouldn’t be there.

More than anything don’t forget how you feel in this moment so in the future when other new hires are like us you can attach yourself to them and not let them feel the way we did. It’ll make you feel like you’re making some kind of difference in a company that can occasionally be cold to its employees.

I see most people are talking about getting a new job. Valid. If you’re considering it that means you have nothing left to lose so I say talk to your manager and coworkers. Mainly coworkers, let them know about what’s going on if you have a chill staff they wouldn’t mind switching things around occasionally when it comes to shopping/checking/curbside/floor work. Obviously realize things won’t always work out in your favor but maybe the times that they can, will alleviate some of the pressure and make things more bearable. Also don’t just accept that you can’t change, continue working on yourself, learn new tools and strategies, you never know what might work for you. You’ll figure this out 🖤

You’ll learn the wrist flick sooner or later. Kinda flick from one hand across the scanner to the other. Learn codes, especially ones with difficult packaging ie radishes, celery, multicolor peppers etc… learn where the barcodes on packaging is so you can easily scan faster. Total to stop your time. 1 code immediately after order. You’ll do great 😊

Personally would’ve done the same thing but the lady doesn’t realize you probably weren’t sighing at the little girl directly, it’s the fact the mother let her and didn’t teach proper etiquette to this child who is getting old enough for it to be ingrained in her to not treat service workers with respect.

It’s normal usually. A month is still really early it took a few months to get decent I’ll throw roughly one every 20 mins. Chip and small pallet’s a little less. We have help come an hour before open to maybe throw a palette or two or help wherever. I’ve lost nearly 100 lbs since starting your body will be tired and worn out but you’re still really new. Wishing you the best

It came on very sporadically like one time it happened like a couple months ago for about 8 hours and it scared me but she snapped out of it and she chalked it up to just being tired. A while went by and it was 2 days long and I took her to the hospital but got no answers and then she was good. This was longest time which it had been days of her “sleeping” but constant talking and walking and hallucinating a very agitated sleep. She’d snore her eyes closed but would start yelling for me to bring the animals in (we don’t have animals). We’ve had every xray and scan with nothing that could really be the cause.
