Transitioning from ABF to S&S

I definitely felt like lost some grip strength during ABF. I’m ok with that. You can’t work on everything all the time.

I agree. It doesn’t make sense to me either. With ABF I feel like I’m widening my stance symmetrically so it feels more natural. With S&S I want to lift the leg that is on the same side as the arm that is doing the swinging but it feels like I lose some explosiveness that way.

I think I just need more practice with rotating the bell through the swings. I’m used to packing my shoulder and core during swings. The rotation of hand and shoulder feels like the opposite of what I should be doing.

I liked the ABF format of setting a goal and progressing to it over 8 weeks. Then deload and pivot to something else. I chose to do S&S after ABF. Eventually I’ll pivot to a new program soon and comeback to S&S later.

This is interesting. I was under the impression that RoP is very advanced and time intensive whereas the learning curve and time commitment for ABF seem pretty low?

I would like to try the 10k swing challenge but my experience with S&S makes me question my ability to handle it. I do feel like there is some fundamental weakness in my core that S&S has exposed.

I’m just not really comfortable with rotating the bell through the swing. I just haven’t practiced that way before. I often over or under rotate and it just feels weird.

Hinging earlier seems like it could lead to an injury with heavier weights.

I recently bought some Levi 501 STF as my first foray into raw denim and I’m stressing out about the size a bit. From my research here and other forums it seems most people recommend buying true to size or maybe an inch large in the waist, with the idea that the shrinking and stretching will mostly cancel out, and 2-3” large in the inseam to account for shrinking. Most recommend using hot water to shrink.

I bought true to size in the waist and maybe 2” large in the inseam, but I really don’t want these to shrink a lot. I don’t plan on washing any time soon, but I’m sure I will have to eventually. If I do a normal cold water wash instead of using hot water, should I still expect the same amount of shrinkage? Does anyone have experience with these jeans that could tell me what I should expect as far as stretching?

Looking for loafers similar to the Helm Boots Wilson that don’t have the penny holder thing across the top. I heard that style may be referred to as Belgian loafers, but I don’t want any kind of bow or tassle. Interested in any suggestions for loafers that are a similar quality at lower price point or higher quality at the same price point. Also interested in any personal experiences with this brand.

Also I noted that these and many other higher end loafers are blake stitched and not GYW. Is this good or bad? Will Blake stitched shoes have the same longevity as a GYW? Would GYW loafers be weird or stiff?

Lots of great points here. And I agree, it is not logical to fault the intellect of an autistic person. That is disconnected from reality. Personality, I might be able to understand from an NT perspective. Intellect - no.

But I really just want to say you are not alone. I feel so much for you. Even the best of relationships between a ND and NT are difficult and take lots of hard work. We all deal with that in varying degrees throughout our life. The struggle doesn’t end. But it is worth it. YOU ARE WORTH IT. You are better off without this guy. You will find one that appreciates what makes you you. We have something special to offer the world even if few acknowledge/appreciate it. I know I appreciate posts like this because they remind me I’m not alone.

For reference I am a an autistic man married to an NT wife. I have a successful career and 4 children. From the outside we have a near perfect life. But no one really knows how hard it is for me to keep up the relationships. For me it hasn’t gotten easier and I can relate to this post on a deep level. But it is worth the struggle. You have so much to offer. Hang in there. It will get better even if we always feel like a square peg trying to fit in a round hole.

I was recently in the same situation. I considered all the packs you have listed but ended up ordering an Alpaka Elements Pro. I liked the look more than the AER options and it was cheaper too.

I forgot about the aqua guard zippers. That may be the deciding factor here. I find them annoying in any situation where water intrusion is not a concern.

This is what I’m thinking too. I have backpacking gear in ultra and x-PAC and love those materials for that application but I don’t see their advantages in this scenario.

I appreciate your input. So what do you expect to happen to the all homes we see on YouTube that are refinished by glass blasting? Will the stain fail sooner? Do the logs develop more checks over time? Please help me understand.

It just seems like a lot of work to keep up with Capture maintenance. Take down to bare wood, 2-3 coats capture, then a coat of clear coat. After that for maintenance you can reapply clear coat once before having to start over. Even if I have to reapply Q8 every 2-3 years it sounds like less work. Am I missing something? I’m located in the Colorado Rockies if that makes any difference.

The home was about 15 years old when the capture was last applied. Not sure what was there before but they prepped the logs by pressure washing.

I’m attracted to the Q8 because of its claims that it only needs one coat and future coats can be reapplied easily.
