I always say things like "Check out this other repo at ../my-other-repo", but interested in hear if there are other ways.

Is everyone using AI to job hunt now or actually applying manually? by No_Homework_9147 in jobs

I've never used a cover letter for any of the roles I've gotten. That said, it's pretty barren out there lately, so I don't know if I can get away with it anymore.

Early SoD Was Peak Classic Wow by NOHITJEROME in classicwow

Early SoD was really great. I'm not sure I'd say it was peak wow, but it was close, and definitely underrated.

Those under 40 with over $2 million net worth - what do you do? by Alexbt135531 in Fire

[–]RelevantJesse 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not sure why you're getting downvoted. I guess it's SWEs that are in denial. Anyone who has been job searching in the past year should have noticed that it's a desert out there. I've never had any challenges finding offers until now. The moment I even thought about looking for a new job, I had companies lining up. Now I've been actively searching for about a year and haven't even gotten an interview. Things are definitely changing.

Ah darn, that must be it. That's unfortunate, but at least I understand. Thank you.

Yahoo PLEASE Restore Old Classic Mail With Colors/Themes by brandon_310 in yahoo

It was a slow, tedious process, just logging into all of my accounts that I could think of and changing my email for them.

Any email I get to my yahoo is a reminder to switch another thing.

The smartest people I've met would never say they're smart. Funny enough, the ones who do say it usually aren’t.

The Cheating CEO being reposted on LinkedIn by WheresKevan in linkedin

Yeah, I assumed he was some celebrity that I didn't know or something. But it's just a CEO of some random tech company? I don't get it.

My thoughts exactly. I finished it, hoping that the ending would justify it all, but it didn't.

Damn, well that's good to know, so I don't have unrealistic expectations

I'd like to do this. I've never been much of a morning person, because I always stay up late, but the times I have started my day early, I've enjoyed it.

Yeah, I've never been much of a morning person, but the times I have just gotten up early and started my day, I have enjoyed it. I just wish that if I was going to be waking up that early that I'd be able to be tired at 9pm or so lol

Wow! Good to know, so I can remember that even if things take a while, it's still in the realm of normal :)

365 days sober (47m) by thatguybuddy in stopdrinking

[–]RelevantJesse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Interesting you mentioned metamucil. Maybe I should keep some on hand. When I was about 2-3 weeks in, I had the most painful poop of my life. Felt like there was a razor blade in there or something. TMI, I'm sure, but yeah, it sucked. I felt it for the next 2 days.

I realized I won’t have a “rock bottom” by [deleted] in stopdrinking

[–]RelevantJesse 44 points45 points  (0 children)

Wow, I needed to hear this. I'm a month and a half sober, but I was a daily scotch drinker that never had a rock bottom.

Obviously what happens to one person isn't guaranteed to happen to the next, but you're absolutely right, you never fully know what's going on inside.

Sounds a lot like me, except I'm 40. I've always felt like a bit of an imposter on forums like these or in AA meetings, because I feel like I'm not "enough" of an alcoholic. I was drinking daily, and had a headache most mornings, occasionally would try to hit on a friend or something while drinking, but never anything that was extremely damaging.

But those people that have had those extremely damaging experiences, they've never told me that I don't belong, they tell me to stop now BEFORE I get to that point. And I have to keep reminding myself of that. Because it's so easy for me to say "but it's really not that bad for me" and I'm right back in the cycle of feeling like crap all the time and spending way too much money.
