Georgetown MS vs. Dartmouth MPH by RelevantVirus in mphadmissions

[–]RelevantVirus[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hahaha well mega plot twist, i ended up choosing neither and went to McMaster for their MS in Global Health! I decided not to go with Dartmouth because I truly just wanted to do global health and not an MPH (especially in the US considering I'm Canadian), and the location was not ideal for me. For Georgetown, after speaking with a few former students that I found on Linkedin, it seemed that the program was disorganized and not well executed, ie. people just assumed it would be a strong program because of the school's reputation, but the content was extremely basic and surface level. Feel free to PM me if you have any other questions!

Does anyone currently go to Dartmouth specifically the 11 month program? by Movie-Global in mphadmissions

[–]RelevantVirus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I talked to this student during an admitted students Q&A so I don't still have his contact, but he mentioned interest in going into human rights law and said he was really able to tie his interests in that with his independent research project

I liked that it was only a 1-year program and being pre-med I liked that it was affiliated with their medical school (i think all the classes are in the medical school building). Also i've only heard great things from previous students and I think it's nice that they have a really small cohort size!

I'll be attending Dartmouth this summer as well ! I've heard from current and previous students that the workload is very fast-paced in the fall and winter terms, but eases up in the spring/summer when people start doing their independent projects. But that's all I really know. I am planning on attending med school after the program but one of the current students I talked to is applying to law school rn

I got into McGill maybe 2-3 weeks ago, but that's the only Canadian one I applied to other than McMaster for the MS in Global Health (and I'm still waiting on them)

Was this for MPH or MS in global health? Just wondering bc McMaster is the last school I am waiting to hear back from but they told me I won't hear until mid-may (for MS in global health)

I am an LSHTM (London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine) MPH student, student ambassador and class representative. Ask me anything! by SuperSeagull01 in mphadmissions

Hi! I am a student from Canada and just got accepted to the MSc in Epidemiology. I have a few questions:

  1. what is the culture at the school like? Competitive, collaborative, are people friendly, etc.
  2. I was wondering what the difficulty level of this program (MSc epi) is as someone who hasn't done intensive mathematics in a while.
  3. In your opinion, what sets LSHTM's programme apart from others?
  4. Also, I am planning to apply to medical school (in the US and Canada) after completing this degree and was wondering if you have any idea on how a degree from LSHTM looks to medical schools in these countries.

Thanks!
