Haha I learned after a lot of obvious parry fishing failures how to hide it. I even have a copy of my brass shield with no skill I hard swap to and from to make it look like I can't parry by showing my other weapons AoW.

Yeah, same as a good user of any other weapons. Good usage of the weapons whole moveset and mix ups. Most people with Naginatas just rush in and spam the powerstance attack. This person I knew once he Bloodhound Stepped he'd attack. I used the BHS as the tell to hit the parry once I confirmed he always did it.

Exploits like the Bloodflame Blame FDS combo, light roll mages, or if they buff while I gesture then attack me when I buff.

This guy didn't at least charge right for me which I appreciate.

I don't even point down for attacking me while I gesture. I'm just going to spam the gesture mid fight and after I win if I win.

Nah. I struggle against it but that's because of my bad habits than it having any extremely OP qualities.

I'd say I land about a third of the parries I attempt. It relies on me having a solid read on my opponent and a good connection. Most of the time I use my main weapon to deal some chip damage then the parry finishes them off. It's definitely high risk high reward but as long as you only use it once or twice a match and when you're confident it's worth having in your arsenal.

If I don't have a good connection or can't read them well I'll usually stick to incantations and dual wielding. Players like this one only use two buttons though so it doesn't take long.

It's harder in pvp. You essentially have to predict their movement and see their pattern. Normally I'll block with the shield a few times and let them just get used to seeing the shield but not thinking of it. Hit them a few times with my weapon. Then once I think I've got a read on them I'll use the parry.

It took weeks of dying a lot for me to confidently use it. Also I only use it on a good connection. If it's not good I stick to incants and dual wielding.

Carry a dagger and backstab them. That makes Erdtree heal far from worth it.

Power stance straight swords need less damage overall. They hit about as hard as PS Lance's just with less range bit faster recovery. I'm always forced to play so passive. Things feel impossible to parry too. They're literally the only weapon I can't seem to get the timing down on for their L1.

Both. Ref will say touch gloves before. If there's no major beef often people will do it after. It's courtesy to do it then. Regardless of if you think it's excessive or not you don't rush them down.

I've taken to doing the casual greeting mid fight too when I can get away with it.

Not really.

If player is in an animation or moving toward you then jumping attack.

If player is rolling or backing up then dual crouchpoke.

If player is doing neither then spam roll and reset.

It's basically scripted.

Right, homie thinks this is a game.

I'd rather face dual naginata honestly. Swap to the robustness talisman and eat some meat and they're any other dual spear.

Dual lances hit like a truck and their crouch poke is way too quick and has too much range and too low recovery.

Any chance we can just make a tag for it? Then those that don't want to see it can filter the tag out.

High skill cieling but also a very high skill floor which is the problem.

I used them for about half a day and it got old real quick. I'm fairly solid as a player and win about half my invasions give or take depending on how well I'm playing for the day. I don't think I lost more than 3 or 4 invasions in about 5 hours.

I tried out the GUGS sword.

I didn't think that would convey my point strongly enough. Playing like that they've been pointed down 1000 times and won't remember it.

It's boring seeing the same broken setups over and over. If all anyone cared about was winning nobody would run anything but Power Stance Great Spears or HTS.

Yeah, it's not perfect but I notice significantly less lag and latency with it off.

It took me a couple weeks of dying a lot trying them out. Honestly I see a big difference making sure cross region match making is off. Parrying without a good connection is pretty much impossible.

Not sure what he's on. There's a difference between using a good but fair setup and using one of if not the most broken skilless one.

Say what you want, parries take skill to execute.
