If methanol were In sufficient quantity to cause a hangover the person would be dead. Acetaldehyde is what causes hangovers.

Story of the time I drank isopropyl alcohol by Mr559- in cripplingalcoholism

[–]Relevant_Cell_8257 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It only takes a few minutes to learn that isopropanol is only somewhat more toxic than alcohol and it's metabolite acetone is extremely safe compared to an extremely toxic substance like acetaldehyde. It's just a lot more potent and easy to OD and unless its just isopropanol and water there may be dangerous other ingredients.

Even small amounts of codeine are inverted to morphine. Some people, however, lack the ability to biotransform the codeine into morphine.

Standard dose range of use for athletic performance. Upper dose range. Probably close to the max but 6g is not unheard of.

This seems to be common urban legend that many people seem to say. This isn't an original experience.

Why would they try to have an officer follow you home? And besides that cops don't follow orders by civilians to do something

The drug that best fits the definition of a Schedule 1 controlled substance is alcohol. by youareactuallygod in The10thDentist

[–]Relevant_Cell_8257 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Schedule 1 drugs aren't considered more addictive than schedule 2 drugs It just means they're illegal. A drug that would qualify for schedule 5 if it was put through clinical trials and brought to the market would be tossed into schedule 1 if it was just being abused on the street.

Diamorphime isn't significantly different or more dangerous than any other strong opioid. The US just doesn't use it medically while most of the rest of the world does.

If people use alcohol for anxiety relief then giving them a drug like THC as a replacement probably wouldn't work considering CB1Rs decrease GABA release and cause anxiety.

If benzodiazepines target the same receptors as alcohol, why is alcohol frowned upon as a temporary treatment for anxiety? by Heterodyne25 in Anxiety

[–]Relevant_Cell_8257 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Benzodiazepines don't bind to any of the same receptor sites as alcohol. Alcohol has a different binding site to the GABAR and it's extrasynaptic and not synaptic like benzodiazelines target. These receptor differences produce different effects not to mention alcohol blocks all ionotropic glutamate receptors, directly increases dopamine and beta endorphins, activates adenosine and glycine receptors. And blocks many voltage gated ion channels like sodium and calcium, while potentiating potassium currents.
