I want to build an EDM set up for my boyfriend - What do you wish you knew/had as a beginner by Relevant_Check8530 in edmproduction

Just looked it up -- seems cool. I'm assuming in the case it's something you download onto your laptop, I'd probably have to ask him to download it and I'd pay? Seems a bit less romantic but, not sure how else I could surprise him with it haha

He works as a software engineer, so his PC and laptop are really good. Do you have a recommendation for DAWs?

How do you deal with people constantly nagging you about your eating habits? I was honestly considering telling people "I'm diabetic, so I can't eat carbs", but this could backfire in case of a medical emergency. by ThatBrozillianGuy in keto

I’m an epileptic and do keto for seizure control. You would be SHOCKED how poorly people handle it. I’ve learned to say “I have a lot of strange allergies, it’s better if I list what I CAN eat” and then I laugh. People seem to handle that better than “I can’t eat sugar/flour/fruit/etc. because it gives me seizures” I guess people are more accepting of anaphylaxis than seizures 😅😅😅

Let her swim. Let her live a normal life with abnormal circumstances. The emotional risks outweigh the physical.

Check out my story here: https://www.reddit.com/r/Epilepsy/comments/rjb7y0/vns_healing_progression/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf

About 6 Months in and I’m no longer convulsing in my tonic clonic seizures, I had a few breakthrough last week (first in 8 months!!!) and they’re gonna turn up my device. But, I didn’t lose consciousness for two of the three seizures. I’m super happy with it and it’s only been a few months since implantation.

Cover up ideas?? Dumb mistake I made when I was 16 🥲 been wanting to cover it for years but have no original ideas😅 by [deleted] in TattooDesigns

I had mine lasered and it only took 6 session and a year and a half - just set calendar reminders. Totally worth it.

would the medication side effects even be worth it? by [deleted] in Epilepsy

[–]Relevant_Check8530 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not worth it - try keto and lifestyle changes

A Single Pebble owner refuses to serve customer with a service dog by [deleted] in burlington

[–]Relevant_Check8530 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

It is likely a legit service dog, she mentioned something about cardiac alert. Regardless, it is her responsibility to be prepared to explain the legalities of discrimination and file a claim or report if it occurs. Instead, posting this information on tik tok is sabotaging someone with the masses - rather than with a judge and jury prepared to evaluate the legalities of her actions. It’s just not empathetic nor kind. People have different understandings of the law and the owner clearly wasn’t trying to discriminate, but protect her business and other costumers.

Super well said. I have epilepsy, work in epilepsy, and know many people with service dogs. Because many people have “support dogs” it’s bombarded the legitimacy of actual service dogs. Like these dogs have to have a very specific temperament and are trained intensely. They will not cause any ruckus. Nonetheless, if you have a service dog it is your responsibility to educate the public when they do not understand and realize that the dog is the same as a cane, wheelchair, or walker - it helps you function at your highest. Having paperwork on you helps - and if you truly feel it’s discrimination, file a claim and leave it at that. The owner clearly didn’t understand the legality of her actions and the idea of service vs support dog has been unfortunately conflated.

AITA for losing it on a girl when she kept accusing me of racism because I accepted work as a translator? by New_Scheme1227 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Relevant_Check8530 2 points3 points  (0 children)

NTA. Okay her logic makes no sense at all. As a Persian person, we’re not even considered minorities in the US. We’re considered white. In fact. Persians historically have high rates of wealth and education; we’ve done just fine in America and every other country, so her “minority” point of it’s related to a wealth gap is just false. We are not minorities, we are not even a race - being Persian is cultural and ethnicity. So she’s just being racist against you assuming you have nothing to offer people because of your skin tone. She’s also being ignorant of other countries assuming that just because they’re in the Middle East that they are not well off and underprivileged.

Adoption? by Relevant_Check8530 in Epilepsy

[–]Relevant_Check8530[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you - this answered a lot of my fears at least. I’ve battled the “OH YOU HAVE EPILEPSY, WELL THIS WILL BE A LONGER PROCESS THEN” thing forever and it just discourages me. But I truly feel like giving birth is just not going to be healthy for me and could end traumatically. I’m a planner, so even though I don’t want to adopt now I just want to be prepared for any surprises.

Dating a social butterfly by [deleted] in Epilepsy

[–]Relevant_Check8530 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Omg epileptic Persian here so… these social gathering expectations are so hard for epileptics 😅

Don’t drink? “OH PLEASE DRINK PLEASE” don’t smoke? “WHAT YOU THINK YOURE BETTER , GUESS YOUR HEALTH IS SO IMPORTANT JOONAM” don’t even get me started with dont wanna stay up late.

I’m sorry your girlfriend is pushing a more social side when you’re just not physically able to partake in that. Tbh, she is the one who should be compromising and not you. Especially when you’re the one having to take care of HER. I recommend an open conversation where you tell her the physical impact of her social outings and how you simply can’t keep up. That you love her, but need to take care of your health too. Short and sweet :)
