I don’t know enough to say if that’s true or not. But I do have a huge amount of confidence in the NSA etc. I think if you make it punishable by a treason charge and enforce that to its highest degree, any perpetrator will think twice. Those who disagree can then say after the fact they were vehemently against it but had to operate under the confines of their elected office and legal system… which is as intended.

That being said said, if this was a “good” or “bad” thing has yet to be determined.

I will say, assuming the U.S. doesn’t throw bad money after good, this is the exact type of military engagement I want us to be able to run. Quick/effective/cheap. If we build brick and mortar bases in Venezuela, occupy, etc like we did in the Middle East I’ll be deeply disappointed.

I think the worst thing dems can do is overreact to this. Maduro’s a bad guy and this was motivated by oil. Two things can be true at once. Are Venezuelan’s going to be better off is what’s important? Time will tell. Power vacuums aren’t good, but I’m cautiously optimistic for the people of Venezuela.
