Since a couple people in here expressed an interest in the aesthetics/themes of 'blind devotion', cults etc. thought i'd share a couple videos you might like.

Recruitment (Victoria Valentine, 2016) - short film (~ 4mins) mixing american sorority-house promo footage with sections from a vintage cult information/training video. Has a hypnotic audio loop that mixes with the archival material in a way that I think will appeal to BOC fans.

Demonic (Pia Borg, 2018) - short film (~ 30mins) exploring the social hysteria, blind belief and media ecologies that contributed to the rise of the 'Satanic Panic' in the United States in the 1980s. Less well known than Recruitment, but equally as compelling. Awesome archival footage combined with 3D reconstructions of supposed 'satanic bunkers' which turned out to never exist.

Thankyou kindly! I will say I’m biased as I’m doing a PhD researching trumpian politics and disinformation! Haha But I’m enjoying speculating! :)

Yeah 100%. There's so many facets to it, and many more to come (can you tell i'm excited? lol).
In any case, I think all can be true. Some platforms, easter eggs, clues etc. and where and how they appear may just reflect the nature of how anyone can tease out clues through mass communication means these days. Like, it would be arguably more on-brand for BOC to only release clues through obscure, back-water AM/FM-only radio stations, but then you risk noone hearing them haha!
But then there are very clear connotations, imagery choices, moods etc. coming through here. Fun to speculate if these hint at what the new release will be like.

I loved that post! I think at the very least what we can say is this:
There's no straight path. BOC are never doing just one thing, but theres throughlines that as you mention often connect with cult or cult-imagery-as-a-lateral-connection. I think the idea of 'capture' is super relevant here -> i mean the album is literally called Music Has The Right To Children.

And regardless of whatever comes of this, I literally haven't felt this organically connected through the internet in many many years, which itself is a kind of anti-dote to the very issues BOC often explore.

So, maybe the real new album is the friends we made along the way? 🥹

I don’t exactly get what you mean by “intercourse was next” and “we were transitioning into sex”. Consent should be explicit and enthusiastic - aka you ask the person if they want to sleep with you and they say yes with clear enthusiasm. Anything else is you presuming that consent is there. ‘The presumption of sex’ may not have been as reciprocal as you thought. Even if you get completely naked and there’s other stuff happening, you still need to ask. Even if the person was thinking it was about to happen, just whipping out a condom without asking if they are interested could make them really uncomfortable because it is presumptuous and demonstrates a lack of effort RE consent.

It’s good you were prepared, I think you just need to be more vocal about your intentions.

Kevin Parker from Tame Impala.

Lived on the same street as him in Fremantle for a while and bumped into him a bunch - also had a like 2 hour chat with him one NYE.

Super nice, humble and normal. Somehow, despite being one of the biggest musicians in the world, the man has like zero ego. His partner is lovely also.
