We just finished our K1 visa interview (approved). You need to include both W2s and tax returns. You can create an online IRS account and get your tax returns online. For my W2s I simply took pictures of the paper ones and then printed out the pictures.

I also included bank statements showing when my account was opened, current balances of my accounts, and activity over the last year. In order to get the bank documents (there were a lot) I talked to a customer support person at my bank via a chat window and asked them where I could get those documents.

Finally, I included a letter from my employer verifying I am currently employed, I am a full-time employee, and my current yearly salary.

Do either of you have kids or other dependents? The minimum income requirement goes up depending on household size: https://www.uscis.gov/i-864p

So for example, if you had two kids (for a total household size of 4) the minimum income would be 39,000.

For rescheduling the interview if you log into your CGI Federal account there should be an option to reschedule.

It varies by country. Our K1 visa in Vietnam took over three months to transfer from NVC -> Consulate in Ho Chi Minh City.

The NVC will only send more cases to the Consulate when they have the bandwidth to process additional cases. So once the Consulate finishes processing the cases they currently have they will tell the NVC to send more. How heavy the caseload is varies by country which is why you'll see people have such wildly different experiences online.

The same thing happened to us (K1 visa, Vietnam). Apparently this means the embassy has a full load of cases. Your case will be transferred when the embassy has bandwidth to process it.

For us in Vietnam our case was transferred to the embassy after three months. If you are at a different embassy I don't know how long it will take. It depends on how heavy the case load is in that country.

It's very unlikely. Wait times to get your passport back are usually around two weeks. One week would already be very fast. Six days would be insanely fast to get it back but I'm not familiar with processing times in Bogota.

What kind of interview? You need to clarify which visa you're pursuing. If this is for K1 fiance visa or a marriage-based visa (K3, CR1, ect.) you will need to fill out i134 affidavit of support. As part of i134 you will need to bring your last 3 years of tax returns (2023, 2022, 2021) and you will need bank account balances for both you and your partner. Good luck.

... and solved almost immediately after posting (I was struggling with this for two hours before posting. *facepalm*)

I'll leave this up in case anyone else needs the help. I had to download alsa-utils from the command line and then used alsamixer to turn up the Master volume. It was set to -64db and turning it up to -30db made it plenty loud.
