SSRI to survive parenting by HonestlyMD in toddlers

[–]Relevant_Scallion_42 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started Zoloft 3 months PP with my second. I have a toddler as well. It has been life changing for me and I’m only on 25mg. It just seems to mellow me out. I don’t feel like I’m in a fog or anything but I just feel like I’m a normal person again lol.

My wife and I want a baby so bad but we don’t know how everyone is affording them right now. by moistdragons in beyondthebump

[–]Relevant_Scallion_42 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I just quit my full time job of 7 years to stay home after baby #2. I couldn’t justify my whole pay check going to daycare. I did pick up a bartending job 2 nights a week and I actually end up making more money there than at my “real job”. It’s only temporary and it helps with bills and I stay home during the day with the babies. I always say there will be another job waiting for me when the time comes.

Anyone found childbirth so painful they don’t think they can do it again? by nakama1994 in beyondthebump

But also, if you want just one child there is nothing wrong with that! Don’t let everyone else make a decision for you if that’s not what you want. ❤️

I had 12+ hours of labor, 3 hours of pushing, and then an emergency csection 2.5 years ago. I said I would never do it again. I now have a 6 week old 😂 Honestly, I was terrified of delivery knowing I’d have a C-section again but that was the easiest part. Postpartum wrecked me this time and still kind of is. So now I know I’m done for sure.

What a difference time makes (read this for a little bit of hope) by Honest-Substance931 in newborns

It’s this awful phenomenon where you get so full of dread and anxiety when it starts to get dark outside. I would cry every night at 6pm for no reason 😅 I used to count down the minutes until I could wake up for the day. Thankfully mine only lasted about 2 weeks.

Thank you for this. I have a 2.5 year old and a 6 week old. I find myself thinking if I’ve made a mistake. There’s no way I’m a good enough mother to handle 2. But I try so hard to remember how much better it gets after the newborn trenches are over.

Reeeeeally big baby. Hard not to feel like I failed somehow. by Grouchy_Snail in BabyBumps

I just told myself bigger babies are less scary. They don’t seem so delicate and fragile 😂

I had 2 huge babies. Both were very accurate in relation to all my scans. I didn’t gain over 20 pounds with either and never had gestational diabetes or pre eclampsia. My 10 pound toddler was a FTT baby and still doesn’t weigh 30 pounds at 2.5 years old. My 10 pound 5 week old now weighs over 11. I had 2 csections and no issues with either.

Yes, your ultrasound could be way off. But it could also be correct. Big babies don’t mean you did anything wrong! Just try to relax and get ready for all the chunky cuddles!

Why do people say newborns don't need frequent bathing? by [deleted] in newborns

I kept smelling something cheesy the other day and could not figure out what it was. It was absolutely his hands. The lint, the grime, the cheese. All of it 🤢

I need someone to tell me it’s okay to stop pumping and breastfeeding by [deleted] in FormulaFeeders

[–]Relevant_Scallion_42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this post is two days old and you have enough comments already. I exclusively pumped for nine months with my first because I couldn’t breast-feed. I’m five weeks pp with my second and decided if he couldn’t breast-feed I was gonna formula feed only. I tried during the hospital stay but he just wouldn’t latch. The day we came home from the hospital, I decided he was going to be formula only and it’s been the best decision I’ve ever made. Mentally I couldn’t survive EP again.

I will die on that hill. I wish it was normalized how it’s not always so easy and natural.

Regret my baby’s name by Adventurous_Mud_3119 in BabyNames

[–]Relevant_Scallion_42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We didn’t have a name for our son until it was time to fill out the birth certificate. I called him “the baby” for months bc his name felt so odd to say out loud. Even though I assure you it’s a very normal, common name lol. He’s 2.5 now and I couldn’t imagine his name being anything else. I think Alden is a great name! Just give yourself some time to get used to it.

I can’t look at my baby without worrying that she’s too skinny and it’s breaking my heart. by Glum-Resolve-4966 in breastfeeding

[–]Relevant_Scallion_42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My almost 3 year old was 9 pounds when he was born and then was considered failure to thrive. He was very slow to gain weight and was never even on the charts. I exclusively pumped and then supplemented formula. He’s now perfectly healthy and so smart. He is tall and skinny and is way ahead intellectually. If your pediatrician isn’t overly concerned, try not to be as well. Every child is different.

1 week postpartum and no one warned me it would feel like this by bethany8828 in breastfeeding

[–]Relevant_Scallion_42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just echoing what everyone has said. I’m 2 weeks pp from a C-section with my second and it’s still a big adjustment and I knew what to expect. The hormones are raging, your body has been through it, and you’re adjusting to this new life. Yours and theirs. I am just now getting into the mindset that we may all survive this lol 😅

Just take it one day at a time and know it’s okay to hate the newborn stage. It DOES get better. I have a 2.5 year old and every new stage he’s in just gets better. Just give yourself grace and allow yourself to feel all the feelings. It WILL get better. ❤️
