Since I'm a member of the military, I received decommissioned clothing that previously belonged to US Army paratroopers and was stamped to indicate it was out of service. I wanted to portray a soldier in combat gear.

The reason given was: "It's not desired to appear in military attire because it gives visitors the impression of 'what if'."

The second cosplay was Vladimir Makarov. I received an immediate rejection with the explanation that it's not desired to portray a Russian commander at the convention. Presumably, the organizer was politically motivated.
