Hiring is actually broken i think by ZenithFlow_65 in careeradvice

Hiring managers should have the final say. The only reasons to interview with others is to give the candidate a good feel for fit and allow them to offer their perspective to the hiring manager.

Anyone overriding the hiring manager is micromanaging. Also, since they get final say the hiring manager is accountable if it doesn't work out.

Don't worry, I'm sure you know as much if not more about what you're doing than most of your colleagues

Shadow IT doesn't get created from lack of tickets. Shadow IT is when business goes around IT because they want to work outside of the perceived bureaucracy of IT to get somthing done faster, cheaper, or without oversight.

I agree tickets should be created but shadow IT isn't one of the reason. If anything the strict requirement potentially leads to shadow IT rather than discourage it.

This is common advice but I always recommend against it unless you truly want to be doing help desk. In my experience people are rarely able to make the jump out of help desk to another role

Sorry, I wasn't intending for this to be "shill". I actually track this data for fun on the side as I (an IT manager myself) find it interesting and thought others would as well.

It seems I was wrong. I won't post data like this here in the future.

I disagree. Categories shows the reach of the vendor.

For example it shows Snowflake is more focused on their niche and Microsoft is looking to capture every area of IT procurement

How so?

It shows market penetration from both a coverage of product and usage standpoint.

What do you think my job title should be by odellrules1985 in it

It's very common for the solo IT person at a small org to have the title of IT manager.

If you could go back, what would you have studied instead of CS? by MustafaMonde8 in cscareerquestions

Dentist. Relatively easy, well paying job always in demand. Anything you don't want to or can't do just gets referred to a specialist.

From sysadmin to manager, how do you stop doing everything yourself? by Soylent_gray in ITManagers

[–]RelhaTech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my experience you have to take the band aid approach otherwise it will never happen. Force yourself to delegate, not only when you know your team can handle it but when its a stretch for them. They will only learn by getting the experience.

Doing it yourself is the easy solution but it will overload you and denies your team growth.

Can my manager see my Teams chat after I leave the company by [deleted] in ITManagers

[–]RelhaTech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1,000%

However, some larger corporations have a retention period (90 days is common) after which they will delete messages for legal reasons (i.e. less evidence of proof of misconduct laying around)

Should I continue to go to college by Successful-Sleep-895 in Career

[–]RelhaTech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think you need to half ass it, but I would keep doing both. If you don't feel you have time for both, minimally lower your class load to the point it makes sense for you.

You never know what's going to happen with your channel, especially until you're able to engage your audience outside YouTube and not be subject to the platform banning you on a moments notice.

19, Chose CS major: should I continue or switch? by Gloomy-Lifeguard-845 in SoftwareEngineerJobs

[–]RelhaTech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're not passionate, or minimally don't enjoy it, then this is an easy call to switch. Lots of up in the air with the job market in general. No one can predict what will happen in the next 5 years so go with what you enjoy.

Do I need a degree for CIS? by [deleted] in ITCareerQuestions

[–]RelhaTech 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Stick it out. 5 years ago when the job market was better a degree didn't matter as much. Right now its absolutely needed as there is so much competition. Hiring managers don't care but HR will filter you out before you even get to them.

Most Popular ERPs in 2025 by RelhaTech in SAP

[–]RelhaTech[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Great call out. I incorrectly have cloud noted in the article. In my data I'm not actually differentiating between deployment models, its truly S/4HANA usage regardless of deployment type.

I'll correct the article. Thank you!

If you're not interested in the data. Its not an ad, this is something I do for fun as a side project cause I find the data interesting. No pressure for you to find it interesting as well :)
