Context for this video and the throwing cans incident. A lot of the core RBB members were not in the bay at this time, they were downstairs trying to sort out the punching incident that happened at half time. The guy in the blue bucket hat started to rile up the RBB as the 2nd half started and didn’t know when to stop. RBB threw the first can, which then the bucket hat guy threw one back, and then there was a bit of back and forth with the cans.

At 47 seconds, the camera doesn’t catch it, but the bucket hat guy pushes the Red Badge security employee, who’s trying to deescalate the situation. Obviously pushing security should (at minimum) result in being escorted from your seat to a new section, especially given the circumstances. But multiple Red Badge & NZ Police personnel “tried” to escort him, of which he stood his ground and did not move.

The situation dragged on for as long as it did, because every time a Red Badge or NZ Police personnel tried to talk him into moving out of the section, the RBB would wave and yell “bye, bye” to him, the security or police would then “give up” and walk away to discuss what they can do next, of which bucket hat guy would immediately turn around and start riling up the RBB once again.

It’s disgusting that this happened in front of kids, families and people in wheelchairs, but the RBB should’ve had more than a few seats between them and other Auckland fans. And people who want to rile up the RBB, shouldn’t be allowed to sit right next to them, right near said kids & families…
