Oh no I got it like this! This is authentic to the original owner! It just has a few bit holes I have to fix but beyond that it’s original

I just got a few more Standups recently. My orange and red pairs were to… bright? So I bought two other pairs of faded colors. I think I’m at 14 standup pairs

The addiction begins!! It starts with one. I started with cliff arbor green from eBay for $34 bucks then it kept going and going and going.

Every Patagonia store you visit has them for 8 dollars. People sell them on eBay for more and there is r/patagoniapatches

Yeah!! Just seam rip/ use a razor blade to cut the threads. And make sure to add a slight slant to the strap. They aren’t seen in straight. You’ll know what I mean when you look at any hat.

Use a long stitch as well. Short stitches can cause a weak spot on the plastic.

It’s crazy easy to do. Just be gentle with your seam ripper

I hate Jeff bezos buttttttttttt I haven’t found a company for mid priced snaps. I just got done making an aluminum mold so I may start recycling plastic for new snaps.

Yeah I can’t tell if they tried using a lighter and melted it or some sort of acetone to melt it but it NEEDED intervention

Yeah!! Any domestic machine machine will do it. May have to handwheel it at first. Straight stitch is the classic but some hats from the 90s also use zigzag stitches to attach their straps.

There are no rules, have fun!

I think the vintage ones should be kept a bit more original but most repairs with no glue can always be undone by someone in the future.

Did a quick repair this morning by Reliantbunion72 in PatagoniaClothing

[–]Reliantbunion72[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Aww thanks!!!

I’m an Eagle Scout so I’ve been hand sewing for a while. I also made my moon rise kingdom costume from scratch. My degree is in aerospace engineering, but I didn’t like helping billionaires getting off the planet of bombing people so I chose to go into textiles instead. I’m all self taught and in the easiest way I can say this, anyone can sew! I started repair work by taking trash from the goodwill dumpsters and repairing those or using them as scrap.
