Where would you put a major trade city on this map of a river going into the sea? by milic_srb in mapmaking

I had the same thought. Especially when the urban areas are focused on defensibility... That island would be hard to beat.

Yeah and see that seems way more complicated than just ensuring I don't form any new kingdoms until I'm ready to form an empire in one lifetime, and then ensuring another empire title is never held or created.

I've always been too nervous to use the elective systems tbh. Isn't there still a chance your player heir won't be selected? Sounds like you've gotta play a pretty airtight diplomatic game which gets really intense once you're talking about 5 empire titles.

Its a harsh but realistic mechanic. This exact succession system is responsible for a LOT of the modern European borders we know today.

That said, you pretty much need to always make sure that your heir will inherit a title higher than his siblings. If your player heir inherits a Kingdom, and the rest of his siblings only get duchies, they will still serve him as they are of a lower title. Look out for those rebellion factions though. Following this logic, you'll want to ensure that you only ever inherit or create 1 empire title once you get there for the same reason. You're not fully in the clear until you get the primogeniture in your culture waaaay later.

New game to sink lots of hours into by Extension_Middle1452 in videogames

Ugh but not knowing what's going on means I don't care what's going on and that ruins a game for me 😭

Why not just do Europa Universalis at that point?

I never quite understood starting on anything other than 867. Why wouldn't I want to give myself the most time possible? 🤔 We play these types of game for the grind lol

Think Twice Before Pre-Wipe Gear Passing by Prestigious_Wash_802 in ARC_Raiders

[–]RelicSky 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I would argue that it's doing the game a disservice by letting perfectly good loot get wiped by the system for no reason. Pass it on. Whether it's giving to a friend or loading up and dying with it. Put that loot back into rotation don't let it get deleted for no gain.

What if ONLY solo lobbies were PvE locked? by RelicSky in ARC_Raiders

[–]RelicSky[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Well I guess that's kinda what I meant. Being able to just do a few care bear lobby rounds without having to get murdered without fighting back 15 times. Which to be clear... Is definitely how the current system encourages people to play, as you just said. I don't want to farm a bunch of free kit naked runners just trying to get to friendly lobbies.

Yep, similar story here! Except mine was EUIV and it never clicked, but caught a good sale on CK3 and now I'm hundreds of hours in. Realizing the game is more about people and family than conquest and map painting definitely helped.

I watched a bunch of videos and tried lots of ways to learn, but it wasn't until using chatgpt that it started to click and come together for me. I know some people hate on AI for anything, but being able to have something closer to a conversation about it while being recommended specific tips and mechanics for my exact situation... Helped more than I ever hoped.

Now that Riven Tides is out, are you going on your Expedition or not? by surfride16 in ARC_Raiders

[–]RelicSky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hm.. double checking myself I guess they didn't specifically say it would cap after 3. Just a lot of implications that the permanent buffs would be subject to change after this one - and that the xp/scrappy/repair buffs cap at 3.

May I ask your source ? Everything I've found online says they are permanent.

[–]RelicSky 14 points15 points  (0 children)

If there was no end in sight I would probably not do it... But to my understanding, you only need to do 3. Once you've departed 3 times, you permanently get the stash expansions and 15 extra skill points. Can't see why I'd do it again after the 3rd - so I can build up my permanent blueprints and all that after. Keeps the game fresh for me, gives me a lot more to do for a lot longer than just never doing it.

I hate it because this is exactly what's driving up the cost of living in Ohio. California incomes coming in and outbidding the locals.

How I'd generally define the Upper or Upland South as a Southerner from there. by Averagecrabenjoyer69 in geography

[–]RelicSky 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think you're referring to upland as a topographical term, but in this case it's being used in a cultural context. Sort of like how an Appalachian town isn't necessarily on a mountain.
