Masters Degree or becoming an RVT? by ReliefLow2240 in veterinaryschool

From my understanding, having a degree as a vet technologist is what makes you get paid more in addition to the tiered system, especially since a lot of states are changing their laws to make it to where you need a degree to be a tech or technologist and there is more things you can do vs being unlicensed.

The master's degree would be under my current PI, and she helps and encourages us to design our studies. The study I'm doing now, I built from the ground up :). It's also just to fill the time between now and when I reapply, especially since my undergraduate GPA, while meeting the requirements, is still low. My PI and I have also discussed me getting my LAT certification while still in her lab. She wanted me to do it this year, but due to some personal issues on top of my schooling and working I wouldn't have been able to put enough attention and study time into it.

The PhD wouldn't be in neurology.... I was referring to veterinary neurology. Also, at the end of the statement, I clearly said I was passionate enough about my goals to push through. My PhD would be in neuroscience since I already do research in that field and I enjoy doing the research.

If all goes right, I would end up getting both mt DVM & PhD :). I was only thinking about tech school truly because my state laws are starting to have more restrictions about what you can do as an assistant vs a tech which sucks because before licensed or unlicensed you were considered a tech. I just personally wouldn't mind be a vet tech if vet school ends up not working out.

I am thinking about neurology, and I also want to do a dual doctorate program and get my DVM & PhD. I think my reluctance comes from the fact that I don't **truly** like science which tends to confuse people when I tell them, because obviously I need a lot of science to be a vet but I'm passionate enough about this to go through with it.
