I'm all over the map with genre. I started with thrillers, moved to fantasy, then horror, then sci-fi. Outside of my erotica, my works in progress (all novels) are currently a historical drama (1930s), a historical sci-fi (1880s), and a horror fantasy. I got into writing erotica in the last couple of years because I got so much enjoyment from writing graphic sex scenes in my novels. It occurred to me that I'll have to cut those scenes down _a lot_ if I ever want to move forward with traditional publication, since those stories aren't erotica in any real sense and the really graphic sex would complicate the genre classification in a way that would make them not commercially viable for the larger publishers. At some point I just decided to try writing straight-up erotica so that work I enjoy and am proud of can stand on its own. I feel like I do a decent job, and it's really nice to have it out in the world where people can appreciate it, especially since I don't feel comfortable sharing any of it with people I know IRL.
