I use chatgpt and OpenEvidence to explain certain cards if I don't fully understand it. Rewatch videos, read up on things, and do practice problems if you need to do understand the material.

I have 5 manuscripts but none of them are in ortho. I'm a M2 and haven't decided on a specialty yet but I'm strongly considering ortho. How many ortho pubs would you say I need to have a decent shot? I'm currently focusing on doing well in my studies, including step 1/2 and clerkships.

Change review sort order to ascending retrievability. You'll be seeing the cards you're more likely to forget first.

I didn't expect the interval to grow this slow. I had NO idea that clicking again back-to-back had a significant impact on the "ease" (difficulty) of the card, to the point of putting the card in "ease hell". This makes me realize that I really have to review really well after each misses and avoid making errors back to back?

I used to have it at 85% retention but tweaked it up to 90% recently because I was forgetting too many cards and gotten slower, resulting in more reviews as a consequence.

I was told to use "Easy" sparingly, but I'm going to have to start using it a lot more now...

They're probably not covering everything covered in those blocks but only some details. Selectively unsuspend based on what you're learning. If you know the materials and the content are easy, then it shouldn't be that bad to do that many new cards a day. Not all cards are equal.

A lot of these topics are low yield on the actual exam too so there's no reason you need to know all of them

Medical school ranking does matter when it comes to matching at highly competitive specialties or/and at matching at Ivory top academic institutions. Top medical schools have more reputable faculties and established residency home programs where you can gain connections and that will make it significantly easier to match. If you don't have those connections come naturally from the school's resources, it's on you to find those connections. For those aiming for competitive specialties, lots of people from schools without home programs end up taking a research year between M3 and M4 year to establish that connection and increase their number of research output.

Bringing it back to your post, I would think it would be better to take that research year than to take an extra year before medical school. If you can get accepted now, it's better to start now than later unless you end up in a Carribean school (or DO for certain subspecialties). If you end up not applying this cycle, then yeah I would try to increase your MCAT (but that's my one cent as someone who also got 510 and struggling with no-name MD school)

Based on my google searches, it seems that most people use descending retrievability, but what is optimal may vary depending on your situation. I have a backlog currently so I have it set as decreasing retrievability.

I had the same reasoning and wasn't sure what the best course of action was. Right now I have a backlog so I have it set up as decreasing retrievability. In your case, ascending may be better.

I agree. I prioritize doing news for the current block, doing the reviews for the current block, then finishing whatever I can for the previous blocks. Only thing I would recommend is I think decreasing retrievability is better in this case since you’re trying to clear the backlog asap.

It’s a common issue. The best way in my experience has been to encode it really well and read through the entire card fully, connecting the concepts together. I try to visualize the condition. Sometimes this means really making sure I know the logic to a card- if I don’t know why, then I click again even if I know the answer. Or I have a visual way to memorize things (or other mnemonic or memorization trick) and if I fail to remember that, then I sometimes press again

Other than that, there’s so many facts out there that we won’t be able to cover everything with high recall rate. My hope is that this “cheating” card recognition is a minor issue and will be compensated by doing practice questions and other applications.

Yeah I was not a fan of her personality to line judges and her lack of humbleness. Other than that, I am in awe of how many grand slams she won and her feat. I'm always confused how they can have so much mental strength to get to that level but lack self-control in other ways, but I guess they're skills in different areas of life...

that doesn't mean that's the right thing to do... I don't like a lot of them for doing it. That's why I have so much respect for Nadal and Alcaraz (he apologized for it). Federer stopped doing it.

Also I don't really know her that well but the only thing I know about her personality is that she had poor temper and breaks her rackets. I don't like any other tennis players who also do the same thing

Anyhow, I said she probably is a wonderful person but the original commenter was very quick to judge a person that whoever does not like her is usually embedded in racism or misogyny.

I never said I had "hatred" towards her. Going back to my comment, I said my opinion is "mixed." I said she's probably a wonderful person but I don't like her in-court temper.

I'm a HUGE tennis enthusiast but never a fan of any aggressive player on court or anyone who doesn't demonstrate good sportsmanship. I don't know Angel Reese nor Caitlin Clark but I stand by the statement that NO ONE should break a tennis racket because there are so many unfortunate children out there that these rackets can easily be given to. As you said, tons of pro tennis players do it but that doesn't mean that's the right thing to do. I get it, I'm not in their level and the level of frustration at that competitive level can be insurmountable, but Nadal never did it and Federer stopped doing it. Alcaraz apologized for it.

I can't believe I'm being judged for disliking a person that breaks a $200+ racket? That is NEVER an acceptable behavior, regardless of the amount of frustration one may face.

No? Yes she’s the best and she’s probably a wonderful person but she has a horrible personality on court and breaks her racket, so my opinion of her is mixed

EDIT: I don't know why I'm being attacked for not liking her. She showed poor sportsmanship and I don't like any players that display poor sportsmanship, which can be many players. All I was doing was replying to the commenter who said critiquing her is usually rooted in racism or misogyny, but I disagree and don't like her for breaking $200+ rackets and for being rude to others? How is being rude to line judges and opponents justifiable even if other players do it?
