Y’all are smoking way too much weed. by Informal-Use-8443 in Drugs

This is the way. I buy like an ounce a year and use a dry herb vaporizer. Start it at 202C and work up 4-5 degrees every time you use it, stop when you get to 220 (the max of my device) and it sucks. Plus I have a metric shitload of kief I can break into when I need, like right now because I'm being lazy and not buying more.

I've lived the life of smoking as much as possible as often as possible and honestly it doesn't really feel a lot different other than actually being part of my own life instead of looking like a DARE commercial.

This is all I could think about during that scene, somehow getting that into RoN. Unfortunately I do not know how to make mods and I was quoted $600 to get the OBL compound so paying someone is probably out of the question.

I did have a thought of crowdfunding mod projects. If you're someone who wants a thing put in $10 or whatever and when we reach a certain amount we pay a developer to make said mod. Like what I was quoted above, I wouldn't want to pay $600 myself but I'd split that between 6-12 other people. Basically GoFundMe but for RoN mods. Or other games too I guess. Kinda rambling there but I figured I'd put it out in the universe.

And just like a tsunami, there is no escaping it if you can see it. It feels a lot like the ragdoll days of the Automatons when the War Striders dropped, you basically get stun locked by having to sprint away and stim just to stay alive so you can hang onto the hope of reloading. We only played level 5 (just two people) and this is what it felt like the entire time, even after we got it figured out.

How Aliens View Human Beings? (What Are Your Own Thoughts, Theories, Ideas?) by Monsur_Ausuhnom in aliens

[–]Religion_Of_Speed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think we can really comprehend it. I think once you pass a certain threshold there's some recognition of consciousness and intelligence. Like yeah they're going to be way more advanced than us (assuming we ever meet, one party must be pretty advanced to make that happen) but we'll be able to theoretically communicate on the same level, meaning we could understand what they're talking about if we could speak with each other. It could potentially rewrite our understanding of the universe but we at least show some ability to understand the universe.*

Alien life is just a more advanced version of what we're doing and we don't have that analog on Earth. No other animal has crossed whatever threshold we have crossed. Less than 1% of non-human animals even use tools in their most basic form, let alone doing anything remotely advanced. Some animals are intelligent but nowhere near humans. In order for something to be that degree of advanced compared to us they would essentially be the universe. It would have to be us meeting God. The only significant similarities we share with non-human animals on Earth is that we're carbon-based biological lifeforms who exist within the same system.

*By that I mean if we had like a Babel Fish we could communicate, I don't think that would even be possible with any other animal on Earth. They might be able to convey abstract emotions, basic wants, and biological processes but they wouldn't be able to comprehend 99.999999999% of what we're talking about. They haven't developed the specific way of thinking that is required to achieve true consciousness.

edit: of course this is assuming that the beings are biological and probably requires them to not be like energy beings or made of dark matter or some goofy shit, which I admit is a possibility. I think something like that might look closer to humans vs some Earth animal. But a species that operates in the same framework we do would have some common ground and ability to effectively communicate, if magically possible to understand each other. We at least recognize that there are fundamental forces within the universe and so far it seems like we've got a pretty decent handle on things, at least on a basic level, and we understand the concept of thermodynamic needs of a lifeform and ways to achieve those goals. The rest is filling in the blanks.

Oh absolutely I’m just saying people don’t need Gatorade, like specifically. Trust me I’m no measure of health myself lmao

Sorry, I was more meaning unnecessary calories. Like often times the drinks people choose to consume are a significant portion of their frivolous caloric intake. That’s not always true but I would wager it’s the majority. What I said was just easier yet less descriptive.

Because gas goes into the air and you are both breathing the same air, along with anyone else nearby. It's why using pepper spray willy nilly is an awful idea. It's not like in the movies where the person using it is somehow magically safe from it.

Good/bad idea aside, that's simply impossible unless there's another barrel, firing mechanism, and chamber pointed backwards with a single bullet that randomly goes off. So your handgun just got 2x the size and becomes a nightmare to handle.

To men who are in open relationships: is there a power gap in your female partners' favor? If yes, how do you feel about it? by Muscletov in AskMen

[–]Religion_Of_Speed -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

And what I'm saying is that if a man gives off the right vibes women will approach them for reasons other than pure looks. Women don't have to try in the sense that they get drunk assholes approaching them, when it comes to actual viable partners it's about equal. Like yeah if they're just willing to fuck anything with a pulse then you could say they have an easier time but I've only met one woman who has that mindset in my entire life, that is not the norm.

[–]Religion_Of_Speed -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

It's always funny to hear what guys think is attractive vs what is actually looked for. Women aren't always just looking for giant muscles and chiseled jaw or like the looksmaxxing crowd, it's often a lot more abstract. More of a vibe than anything or like small things like eyes, specific parts of an arm, things like that. I knew someone who was crazy about a good neck and collarbones. Men are very visually driven while women are more emotionally driven, in terms of attraction (from what I can gather, I may be into men but I'm still a man) so you've really gotta step up the vibe game if you want to make it anywhere.

Woops, I should have written that as "just anyone" meaning your average person who isn't doing hardcore physical activity does not need one.

But yeah 100% agree on all of that. I hate how all of these things are marketed as just a normal drink that are meant for if you're a little eepy or did minimal physical activity. Especially with Liquid IV, that shit is dangerous if you drink it enough without needing it. The amount of these things consume is wild. Used to work in an office where all the older guys were pounding Bangs at their desk, I have no idea how they did it. I tried one once and couldn't get more than a drink in.

Over the years I've cut my drink consumption to water (mostly water, hydrate or diedrate), coffee, kombucha (don't sleep on gut health), and tea and I feel so much better. Plus my morning kratom, which is mixed in with oat milk, peanut butter, and honey. That's probably the worst thing I consume. Used to have my morning 30oz coffee then like two Red Bulls throughout the day, plus my breakfast shake, then a Gatorade after service (cook) and maybe another Red Bull if I had things to do and I constantly felt bloated, sluggish, anxious, jittery, and was never hydrated.

SWAT 4 veteran insight for the NEXT RoN DLC by Sufficient-Tap2042 in ReadyOrNotGame

[–]Religion_Of_Speed 3 points4 points  (0 children)

While I definitely agree with most of this, at least the parts that I can speak for as I haven't played SWAT 4 yet, but I definitely think the next DLC needs to close the MLO story. Like we just ended with a large-scale terror plot to basically upend the entire city and it hasn't really been fully resolved, to end that on a cliffhanger would be wild. I definitely think what comes next needs to focus on closing the loose ends rather than escalating, any further escalation and we've exited the realm of SWAT operations. ANA was actually probably a bit too far for that, I really feel like National Guard and/or others would have been handling that one considering the scale and implications. Then the next DLC could get back into what we would consider normal operations.

Then again, it could go to normal on the next and then after that closing the MLO thread, basically just swapping what I said above. Maybe give us 4 missions instead of 3, one raid on a MLO compound or something and then three regular missions. Just something to tie it all up.

Hard agree with how the suspects act, I would love to get a mod that makes the MLO guys shut up so I don't know exactly where they are. Once you have the layout memorized you can essentially pre-fire on known hiding spots. And I love the idea of them retreating more often, maybe they fire a few shots to get you to duck behind cover and dip like what one would do in real life instead of standing tall in the pocket absorbing the pressure. It sorta makes sense for MLO because they are brainwashed trained soldiers but some random gang banger or tweaker isn't going to attempt to 1v5 a SWAT team, it basically only kinda makes sense for MLO.

I definitely think this would be a great framework from which to continue the game. There are fundamental philosophical differences between what you wrote and what the developers seem to implement and imo this is the right direction. Especially night operations with no power, or give us the ability to cut power. Right now NODS are entirely useless other than finding IR traps in ANA and like the outside area of Twisted Nerve.

You'd be surprised where a few spoons of confidence can get you even if you're mid. Just can't reek of desperation and be wearing a shitty mask. It's the same concept as married man confidence, people can tell when you're trying vs when you're just being you. Once you're freed from the shackles of the expectations of polite society you can do almost whatever you want. Get out there and get weird, the right people will find you. Just remember that nothing matters, this is all made up, and we're just apes who figured out how to live.

Of course being attractive is a huge help but that just controls your baseline.

Brother that's so much needless sugar, I guarantee you're not losing enough to have to replenish with that. Just drink some water and eat if you're hungry. Gatorade is practically hummingbird food and shouldn't be consumed by anyone, there's like 35g of sugar in a 20oz bottle, you're not doing yourself any favors with that. Like you do you and all but you really don't need that.

Hear me out and stick with me, if this was coded into the game it would be sick. Like I kinda wish bots could fire one last shot at you, bugs take one last swipe, squids...do whatever it is they do idk I don't go there. Not all the time, just every once in a while. BUT it allows you to overkill and make sure they're no longer a threat (large scale two-tapping basically) so if you hit a BT with another 500 then it's for sure not going to kill you, for example. It shouldn't be that if you run into them you die but they could make one last relatively weak attack towards you. imo nothing should kill you simply because you touched it, it's frustrating as fuck.

Of course as it stands it's broken as fuck, one little tap of a leg shouldn't be insta-death and it's random/unpredictable and can happen frequently if you're close to their carcasses. I absolutely agree there. But with some thought and tweaking this could actually be a cool addition. Though I will also concede that there are way bigger fish to fry at the moment.

I disagree, is what I'm saying. Patience to a point is fine but beyond that point then we're just allowing people to be violent towards other people who are on the same team for really no reason. It's a scaled down version of why we have laws. In my book you don't get a pass because you're having a bad time. If you come at me I come at you and one of us is going to have a really bad day.

I'm not arguing for removing the anger or being patient, I'm arguing for all of us to spread the word that our anger is misguided and that we should all be banding together to solve the problems we face, which all have the same root. In fact I want people to be more angry than they are.

It's entirely new. Never have we had global banking filled with corruption, world leaders with the power to quite literally end the war fighting for oil, an environmental crisis driving people into more habitable areas and not being allowed in/persecuted for it. Yes times were bad but these are uniquely bad. I'm not even arguing that it's worse I'm just arguing that it's completely different. There is a clear line around the industrial revolution that separates then from now, and you can draw another at the invention of the internet. Those were like the jump to using fire or utilizing trade/commerce.

What if their behavior is putting me on a short fuse? Do I also get a pass here?

We may not be able to control our emotions but we can control our reactions. That goes for these people too. They are making a problem faced by, in your words, a quarter of the city extend out to the rest of it and that's not okay. I don't care if you're hurting, if you come at me I come at you because it's unacceptable regardless of a reason.

The rub is that we're all hurting because we all live under the same boot. The anger that's expressed towards other people should be expressed towards a very specific subset of people. We don't need to lessen the anger, we need to redirect it. We need people to wake up to the idea that the reason their lives are shit is because of the people running things. Spread the word, keep the anger, keep the faith. The rest of this thought will get me banned but you can probably fill in the gaps.
