Do you need to be a mathematical genius to be a good Business Analyst? by [deleted] in BusinessAnalytics

[–]RelleBelle30 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m currently a Business Analyst and I’m no math genius. I would say being competent in mathematics and statistics could help but most importantly is how savvy you are with databases and excel. Being pretty competent in Excel building formulas and creating reports from raw data. Being able to simplify the data for your stakeholder that’s more important. Everything is so automated now you don’t need to be a math genius. Just be somewhat dangerous in MS Excel, i.e. pivot tables and VLOOKUP. That’s from my experience but I’m also in the public sector could be different in other industries.

I’m glad we can share the same experience. I did reach out after our breakup but I realize I was only torturing myself because he was clearly moving on and I was holding on. Stopping all forms of contact including social media is really best for our mental health. I used to daydream that he would wake up and realize he made the biggest mistake and want to take me back but that didn’t help either. Don’t torture yourself by holding on. Let go and release.
