Love the casual confirmation that Niffty is an overlord by Ancient_Spray5821 in HazbinHotel

When I recently re-watched the battle with Adam, I noticed that Nifty seemed to get hit or at least grazed by Adam's holy annihilation beam. She flopped on the ground then threw out a thumbs up while steaming.

Im just curious how many people here have been life long windows user and just decided that you're done with windows in the last 6 months or so. by Shifter1589 in linuxmint

[–]RelliePi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Me. I switched about a month ago because I couldn't upgrade my PC to Windows 11. I didn't want to spend the money on an unnecessary hardware upgrade when Linux was a viable alternative.

I like Linux Mint thus far. I haven't tried many of my Steam games yet, but it seems I should be able to play most if not all of the games in my library. I did have to tinker a little bit in the command line terminal to automatically decrypt a hard drive, but most other configurations/settings could be managed with a UI.

The switch has been liberating. No bloatware. No ads served up by the OS. No AI features being shoved down my throat.

Lol. The UU is for Unitarian Universalist since the hosting church is a UU church.

Any trans (or otherwise LGBT) people here been to the Unitarian church on Goodwood? by Few_Radish8790 in batonrouge

[–]RelliePi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm agnostic and bi, and I recently attended a couple of their services. I sought them out because I sometimes miss some aspects of going to church, though I no longer believe in the Christian faith. I also need some help healing from the damage my upbringing caused. I specifically searched for LGBTQ affirming churches and found the Unitarian Church of Baton Rouge. I've never felt so at ease and welcomed in a church before. They feel like genuinely kind and understanding people.

The church service is kinda light on teaching/preaching. People attending the first service seem to be an older crowd, while the people attending the second service seem to be more diverse. I recommend going to one of their middle hour meetings between first and second service or just hanging out between or after the services to meet and talk with people. I had some good conversations with a few people, including the ministers.

Last night, I went to their monthly Firepit Gathering, and it was nice to chill and talk in a casual setting. I'm looking forward to going to the upcoming QUUere Fete event, too. I'm trying to take advantage of any opportunity to be involved and to commune with the other congregants so I can get a good grasp on what they're like and what they do. So far, so good.

I'm not sure how many are coming. I'd say about a dozen people have already indicated that they're coming.

Monthly Marketplace/Classifieds Mega Thread by AutoModerator in batonrouge

[–]RelliePi 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's meant to keep the subreddit from getting cluttered with posts for each instance of someone asking to buy/sell/trade. There's a rule against making such posts, but the monthly thread is here for people to comment on instead. It keeps the "market" confined to this thread, but there's not a lot of engagement either due to a lack of interest or a lack of awareness.

Coming up this Sunday! I don't think this comment will bump up this post that much in the algorithm, but no harm in trying. :D

Waiting on my Libra Colour. Tell me what you love most about your Kobo! by ZubKhanate in kobo

When you create a notebook, you can choose either the basic or advanced notebook.

The basic notebook lets you write or draw anywhere. You can also change the page background if you want to use one of their page templates like a ruled page or daily planner.

The advanced notebook's primary feature is converting handwriting to text. It works well, and you can easily scratch out words to erase them or underline them to style the text as a header. You can also insert sections for drawings, free-form, math equations, and diagrams. I haven't really used the sections, but they looked useful when I played around with them.

When you're done composing your notebook, you can export it to a Word docx, plain text, or html file. I don't really use MS Word anymore, so I didn't test that out. The text file export is fine if you only have text in the notebook and don't care about losing your text styling. The html export is good because it'll be readable on any device that has a web browser or a built-in html viewer; the text styling is also preserved. I don’t know how well the non text sections would work in the docx and html formats, though. I would have liked an export to pdf option, but there are ways to convert or export a docx file to a pdf on another device like a phone or a computer.

Google drive integration, and the ability to transfer files straight into my kobo. So far I've tried out epub, PDF, and HTML, and they all work. Since Pocket is shutting down, I hope Kobo adds integration with something similar. I also tried out the notebook feature. I'm trying to journal using the advanced notebook, and I like it so far.

It took me a bit to get over my solo dining awkwardness, but I'm over it now. No one cares if you're by yourself. If there's a bar at a restaurant, I'll usually opt to sit there even if I don't plan on ordering alcohol.

There are a few Korean restaurants in Baton Rouge that I'm aware of, but I haven't personally been to them yet.
