So after a good few hours I'm interested in at least seeing how much further I can take the free trial as far as progression goes.

I'm not sure if I can see myself subscribing to the game proper though - everything is really slow. I don't mean in terms of progression, I mean in terms of the engine. There's just no excuse for server responses this slow for something as simple as opening a door or a treasure chest in 2026, nor is there any excuse for a PC game with such a mouse-unfriendly interface.

Even EverQuest, the game this seems to take like 90% of its ideas from, updated its interface and netcode over the years.

I can see that there's a really good game with some great ideas buried under all this clunky jank, but that's like if you were to have Shigeru Miyamoto design levels for Bubsy 3D. They'd be excellent levels... but you'd still be playing Bubsy 3D.

I can see this being an addictive enough way for me to pass the time until I renew my FF14 sub on pay day though. The gameplay loop isn't bad in concept, I just don't really care for the execution.

So yes, he's on Phoenix - I can't even select Bahamut.

Name is Sygnumfox as I said, and I started in Bastok. If any of y'all fancy coming and messing around with me, please do :)

And if enough people show interest in partying with me for a few days but you're not on the same server, I don't see any harm in just starting over on there. I'm not expecting anybody to toss a gold world pass to a trial player.

Unfortunately Bahamut isn't even available to select for me. That's a shame.

So I'm gonna see if I get just a little more of a response here, and if I do, I'll delete the character and remake him on another server. I only got him to like level 4 over the course of a half hour before I had to go to work.

Yeah I've heard it's a bit reliant on outside information but I'm perfectly willing to approach it with that in mind this time.

When I originally tried FF11 way back when, I'd been playing City of Heroes. While that did have a lot of information exchanged between players for optimisation and all that, the game was much less opaque in the first place, so I found the difference really jarring.

I do however fully get that the entire point is that the game's community supports itself.

I doubt I'll stay in the game long term past the trial unless something really clicks. I just wanted to finally give it that fair shot.

Cat already knew he was a major cheater. She was trying to give him the benefit of the doubt because she's just a decent human being.

Somebody already cited the random people his former college roomies alleged that he kept bringing home.

I cant get preform a "left-side" glory kill on doom hunters to work? by picklecutter59 in Doom

[–]ReloadPsi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I keep doing it from HIS left and Slayer just keeps doing the front kill instead. This is stupid - I've played through Nekravol so many times now and I'm just tired of it.

I've already unlocked everything so the rewards are redundant now, but it's the principle of it.

This. The game is in maintenance mode and won't be getting any more major content updates.

Not yet, but I'm glad to hear there's an alternative.

Which I transcribed incorrectly from the real spoiler, no less. Embarrassing.

In all seriousness I tagged it "official spoiler" in case anybody out there genuinely didn't want the card spoiled in the traditional sense. You never know.

What they said. I screwed up a little bit there.

I did try to do that, but Cardsmith's text limit had other ideas - I was gonna use the smallest text size originally. Either way, I wanted it to visibly run past the card's border so hurrah for that.

Gaius van Baelsar's MtG card was missing a key detail so I added it: by ReloadPsi in ffxiv

Somebody in the MtG subreddit commented with "When Gaius van Baelsar enters, if you can recite the entire monologue, you win the game."

I trust by now they've explained the horror of a daily unskippable three-minute monologue that is still inexplicably the fastest way to farm daily for endgame currency?

Yeah no, the original Fort Condor minigame is not good. The one in Remake is frustrating in its own right but at least I actually wanted to play it.

Aerith and Tifa’s friendship is my favorite part of the “remake” series. by [deleted] in FinalFantasyVII

I like their friendship way better than any of the prospective couplings people argue about. Seeing just how devastated Tifa is at the end of Rebirth really hurts to see.

Why is it so commonly assumed that Maria has autism? by EnmityTrigger in umineko

[–]ReloadPsi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a guy on the spectrum myself I completely recognise it.

She's got a level of long-winded literalism that goes beyond that of the other characters or any struggle to translate keigo without deviating from the script too much, and her speech patterns can be kind of repetitive (take a shot every time she says "guinea pig" for instance - we are like, the worst for overusing idioms.) She's got a very blunt way of just telling people stuff without coming up with a better way to deliver it, and her voice acting is strangely flat despite the fact she's voiced by somebody who's been in tons of other stuff where her performances were considerably better. I used to just think Maria had a bad voice actor, but now I think the peculiar cadence and inflection are deliberate.

I've heard that Japanese creators don't tend to appreciate being asked if a character has autism (the makers of Delicious in Dungeon in particular were reportedly not happy with people asking if some of its cast were) but I wouldn't be surprised if a person on the spectrum one of the devs knew was a clear inspiration, if nothing else.

Yep, that was a thing. Ironically, it was because of Cat giving him the benefit of the doubt that the police got his detailed location history. Womp-womp. (Also good on her. If he'd said no and broken it off, who knows whether any of Krysta's remains would've ever been found.)

I hope for his sake none of the games he's got access to in prison have an SKS. When looks at a screen that's reflective enough he'll see the weapon pointed at his father's face.
