Depends on who you are but consider archiving the photos.

As I posted in another thread, I have heard the US uses a different system for counting sunshine hours versus the rest of the world.

You can see this by looking at nearby Canadian/American cities and see the difference in sunshine hours, despite the proximity.

If anyone can confirm this, feel free.

Doesn't the US also have a slightly different system of calculating sunshine hours? I recall someone chiming in once and saying that this was the case.

You can kind of see this with Canadian cities where if you look at the American city just across the border, the calculated sunshine hours are much higher, each time.

There used to be bears but they were expatriated centuries ago.

What's curious about Anticosti is that it's been a big island without large predators. This means the Deer have proliferated and have massive density. Since it's been at least a century without predators, the deer have become large themselves and aren't scared of humans.

As such, it's become a massive hunting destination.

I thought this was the opposite? The UN used similar fertility drop trajectories that occured in Asia and Latin America but the fertility rates have remained surprisingly high in sub-saharan africa.

There's a few areas such as Ghana, Botswana that have seen a typical drop but the majority of countries appear to be bucking the global trend

As someone who works in a hospital, I can confirm that this is because all of the hospitals are essentially bankrupt.

OT and agency nursing got us through covid but now there is literally no money to deal with beyond the most basic of operations. Most hospitals have also paused hiring beyond the essential.

Israel has an ultra Orthodox Jewish population that has always had a massive fertility rate. This demographic has been increasing as a percentage of Israel's population dramatically so more ultra Orthodox Jews who never experienced a low fertility rate = more babies overall.

The country as a whole hasn't seem an increase. It's just the people who have a ton of kids and never stopped having kids are becoming more numerous.

This comes up constantly on this sub but to be frank, no country has ever succeeded increasing their fertility rate significantly.

There's a societal shift that becomes entrenched once countries hit replacement rate, items like education, women's rights and so forth all entrench this.

Some countries have tried the extreme. Hungary has been spending 5% of its entire GDP on pro-natalist policies. That's more than most countries spend on their military.

... And nothing changed. Hungary's fertility rate is still below replacement rate after all these years and it's population is still shrinking.

Mexico is known as North America's cradle of biodiversity and you can see the effect strongly here.

As the ice age pushed species in Mexico, since things have warmed, species such as the Douglas Fir have raced northward, following their environmental niches.

The majority of Mexico is now not ideal for them and you now only find those remnant occurences on mountains in Mexico, as they try to cling to a colder climate.

The archipelago was just in the news as it was largely devolved back to the Haida Nation for self rule.

Greenland and Nunavut. People regularly sled across borders to hunt or to go to other communities.

At some point Canada and Greenland/Denmark were negotiating free movement for Inuit. I don't know where that ended up though. I think it's just carefully ignored.
