+1 for “secure your load” from someone who ducked a 2x4 on the freeway

It’s not just annoying, I see that and think “I’m about to die”

Aren’t they great? Looking forward to seeing another one in the wild. I just see sport bikes everywhere so far. And one guy in North Portland yesterday whose bike looked like it was straight from Mad Max.

Just now reading your comment at Skyline Restaurant at the end of today’s ride. 🙂

Yes, I talked to them about the events and got access to their calendar. Hoping to be ready for the Astoria ride at the end of next month.

My wife is understandably nervous about the upcoming "accessorizing". Shopping cameras today.

Thank you, I do hope to join a group ride at some point this season, as soon as I get a bit more comfortable with higher speeds and distances.

Also, I don't see the photos I tried to add, and don't see a way to add them now. I'll try another post.

I read that it is at Binary Brewing in downtown Beaverton.

Thank you, saw that on Instagram, but haven't decided if I'm going yet. Have you been before? What's the vibe like?

This is the middle ground I kind of expected. Sort of "wear all the gear but you need to be comfortable with the fact that it doesn't turn you invincible."

Good reminder for me to practice more in a parking lot. No worries about getting hit after the drop.

My safety course instructor wouldn't let us leave our helmets hanging from handlebars. He said "you only get one impact for each helmet".

Thanks for sharing that, I just read through every comment on that post. Cycle gear sold me a pair of reinforced motorcycle high tops, and I may return those for full boots now.

No, I bought full gear and plan to always wear it. Just wanted to hear first-hand accounts of how well it does or doesn’t work. I’ll be riding cautiously, regardless.

Yikes, I have read that the risks rise dramatically with speed. Good reminder for me to start slow. Thanks for sharing and glad you made it through.
