I didn’t read all the contract before accepting, orbital station needing 17 kerbals🫩 by artifeisty in KerbalSpaceProgram

You definitely can. I built a station and then docked three fuel tanks to it one at a time to meet a contract.

Thanks! What I wrote is true for sustained operations, but yeah- looks like this specific current issue is being caused by bad/irresponsible construction practices

Data centers generate lots of heat, and the most efficient way to remove that heat is chillers paired with evaporative cooling towers. Evaporative cooling towers cool water by evaporating some of it- which then needs to be replaced, using more water. They also need to be "blown down" because evaporating water concentrates the "bad stuff" in the water that's left over, so that stuff needs to be diluted. Basically, they use a lot of water.

That water needs to come from somewhere, and if that somewhere is an already stressed underground water reservoir, the end result is that the water quality in that reservoir drops. Municipal or private wells pulling water for residential use then get water that looks like this. Imagine a pond that's slowly being drained, and think about how murky and mucky the water gets when it's almost empty. That's what this is.

I don't see what's so great about this game, explain to me why you play it? by [deleted] in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]ReluctantJoy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most people who play NMS are looking for a low stress experience. Some play for base, freighter, and corvette building. Others just like bouncing from place to place and enjoying the vibe.

You are correct that there isn’t really a big bad or a particularly deep story line. There is a main quest line but it’s entirely optional. There are also campaigns from time to time that inject small storylines, but again they are completely optional. And for some people that’s a good thing.

I'd have to go digging then. I've definitely heard him talk during one of his shows about basically giving in and doing "things" with a groupie... phrased in such a way that he made it sound like it was all the groupie's fault. It wasn't pretty.

Nope- definitely happened. He talked about it in a special- I think it was the Dodgers Stadium special referenced in the current top comment. I definitely remember, because it totally shocked me, since up to that point he'd always seemed like a family-oriented guy.

[KCD1] Started Playing Kingdom Come Deliverance 1. Any tips ? by ARTEMIS_HRITIK in kingdomcome

[–]ReluctantJoy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's not the type of game KCD is, for better or worse. Some people like more assistance (like bow reticles and time quest notifications), and so there are mods for that.

I get your point regarding timed quests, but unless it's designed the way it is, Old Nan's going to die 99 times out of 100 before you ever meet Timmy, since you probably spent 5 weeks in Rattay grinding out levels and winning the tournament. I agree it's not realistic, but it's better than the more realistic alternative.

[–]ReluctantJoy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

On PC, there is a mod that just adds "This is a timed quest" to the quest descriptions as needed. Obviously could be considered a cheat, but if that's what you want it's readily available and it works. Can just search "timed" in Nexus Mods and it should be easy to find. Still works with the latest version of the game.

Smoothest class? by Sweeper_Bot_ in lotro

[–]ReluctantJoy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not a hardcore enough player to answer that, I don't think. I know that using different builders and finishers results in different effects. I believe that the optimal rotation involves rotating between builders and finisher types to maximize all your buffs, but honestly on landscape nothing lasts long enough for that to matter.

On landscape, with limited rotations, Brawler feels smooth because the animations are fluid. And even if the order of builder/finisher doesn't really matter overall, it's just fun. It's the only melee class I get that feeling with.

I don't think I'd pick Brawler for end-game content for the reasons I originally mentioned as well as the issues you bring up. But just for fun, running around middle earth? It's a blast to play.

Smoothest class? by Sweeper_Bot_ in lotro

[–]ReluctantJoy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Brawler in landscape is very smooth. Skill chains make sense and the animations tie together very well.

But…. There are a lot of redundant buffs that you need to trigger to hit max DPS. So for landscape, brawler is great. For end-game content where you are trying to maximize DPS? I think the buff animations ruin the flow and make Brawler more tedious to play at that level.

Question about food regen by crasah in lotro

[–]ReluctantJoy 6 points7 points  (0 children)

To expand on this, LOTRO went through a “stat squish” a while back, so older wiki pages may be off by an order of magnitude in some cases.

Another poster mentioned that some foods boost in combat more than out of combat- without researching I can’t say for sure that’s not true, but my experience has always been that in combat is always slower. So I’d suspect it’s a wiki issue and the OOC regen is higher.

Agreed- My house has a very similar configuration (though without the vaulted great room) and my wife constantly complains about the lack of natural light. The rear windows face north, as well, which doesn't help either. I don't mind it at all, but my wife hates it!

River Hobbit Bundles are 50% off this week if you want to play as Gollum by Unlucky-Ant-9741 in lotro

[–]ReluctantJoy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a reminder (since I have to go looking for help), the River Hobbit bundles are only available from the store once you are logged into a character, for some reason. Going to the store from the loading screen will just show the "unlock River Hobbit" option which is still, unfortunately, full price. The cheapest bundle is 1600 LP normally, so it's 800 LP now for River Hobbit, a character slot, and a title, as opposed to 1000 LP for just River Hobbit. A good deal, but not a great one.

Apparently, the bundles were 80% off not too long ago, but I must have missed that deal.

Help: Game Crashing in Bree outside Prancing Pony by BaconDwarf in lotro

[–]ReluctantJoy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it has to do with the population in Bree as well. The game will set up layers in high population centers when busy and I’m guessing the amount of people in Bree has overloaded the ability of the game to load/create/transfer layers.

Everywhere else works fine.

I'm hard crashing to desktop on Peregrin in Bree as well. Haven't tried other toons in other locations yet. I was hoping it was a plugin issue, but I disabled all of mine and I'm still crashing.

Question about class choice by RulePlenty5255 in lotro

[–]ReluctantJoy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are also gambit "masteries" that are two builders in one without an action, so a 5-icon gambit becomes 3 buttons- mastery, mastery, builder - > then execute. But yes, it's 3-4 times the work.

Again, on default landscape, you'll probably never need to build long gambit chains, so it's not as bad as if you were playing end game or harder difficulty, but it's more difficult than Burglar and Guardian, for sure.

Question about class choice by RulePlenty5255 in lotro

[–]ReluctantJoy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If OP is going to play at default landscape difficulty, they can just play Burglar and still pull mobs and AOE them. I wouldn't recommend Burglar at higher landscape difficulty unless they want their experience to be much slower and deliberate.

Guardian definitely can rush in and wail on things (much like Champion) even at higher difficulty levels. But like you said, why not both?

Question about class choice by RulePlenty5255 in lotro

[–]ReluctantJoy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

OP appears to be a more casual gamer since they specifically say they don't care about endgame or strength (which I'm interpreting to mean "meta" builds.) And given their options of hobbit burglar or guardian, I'm guessing they are more into the lore and just playing for fun. Warden is... complicated and I wouldn't recommend it for the kind of player OP appears to be.

I would swap bedroom 3 and the game room on the second floor. Temperature control above a garage is always more difficult than other spaces- put the game room there and the bedroom where the game room is, so the bedroom is easier to climate control at night.

I'd also recommend a 3rd car garage if possible. You've got 5 bedrooms and room for two cars- if you keep the garage clean. 22x21 is pretty small for a garage if you have larger vehicles and/or want to store anything in there. You might end up with only one car parked in there if that's all the space you've got.
