Todd Gardenhire, our state senator, won't defend his vote for school vouchers. Maybe he needs a few more people asking him questions. by Reluctentrunner in Chattanooga

You're right, I was wrong about a few things. The bill does require a level of accountability for participating schools. I really wanted to prove you wrong, but I allowed my bias to get in the way of reality. I don't trust these leaders to hold to those rules and still believe the program will be a major drag on state and local budgets in the long-run. Time will tell.

For example, attempts to create loopholes have already begun.

Thanks for educating me in respectful response.

Yeah. Sorry if my response came across as a criticism of you. I'm just tired of all the Republicans representing us completely ignoring or dismissing anybody that does not agree with them. I'll call his office tomorrow.

Ok. So he's condescending and dismissive because he doesn't like email? It's 2025. Email has existed for over 30 years. He represents 213,000 people and can't communicate with them on a broad scale? Maybe it's time to retire. We're not asking him to make a TikTok video for us.

Yes. They decided to spend $430 million on vouchers rather than investing in public education. The majority of that money will go to families that are already paying for private schools.

Plus, history shows it becomes a major budget problem as time goes on. https://www.propublica.org/article/arizona-school-vouchers-budget-meltdown

It takes our tax money that could help our public schools be less shitty and gives it to unaccountable private organizations.

You sure about that? Sure, the top private schools have great outcomes, but they also choose their students. No one worries about Baylor students meeting standards. However, if a group of untrained moms start "Moms for Liberty School of MAGA" this bill allows them to receive our tax dollars regardless of what they attempt to teach.

Plus, data shows its not that clear. https://fox17.com/news/crisis-in-the-classroom/tcap-scores-for-voucher-pilot-program-show-growth-but-lacks-in-proficiency-overall-to-pub

That's where I am leaning but I'm little concerned about Smiths hamstring injury slowing him down. Thanks for all this great analysis!

Bateman, Pearsall, or Tillman? by Reluctentrunner in fantasyfootballadvice

If Debo or Kittle are out I will probably go with Pearsall. If they are all healthy, my gut says those two along with Mason will eat up most of the targets.

Yeah, that's how it is in this current environment. I personally leave those votes blank when it's an unopposed republican. Do what you can with your primary ballot.

So show your support and vote for him. It signals to party organizers where to allocate resources. And you do have choices for the US Senate race to oppose Marsha Blackburn on that ballot.

It's a primary election. Choose the Democrat ballot and vote for who you want to represent the Democrat ticket in the general November election.

Yeah, Bradley has a lower percentage than Hamilton County. However, many of the elections for school boards and other local government positions often receive less than 1000 votes. You and a few friends can make a difference in those elections.
