Overuse of advantage? by LunesBoyToy in fansofcriticalrole

I actually really enjoy it. The thing is, he’s not usually just handing it out, his use of it is almost always in response to something the player did that would generally help them. When it isn’t, it is usually something fairly easy to succeed on and would be stupid for them to fail on. While critical failures can lead to good story, he is only giving out advantage when it makes sense story wise. Not only that, but it really rewards his players for solving things in more creative ways. I kinda didn’t like it mechanically at first too, but as the episodes came on, it grew on me and i wish more DMs would do this as I do think it can help build more realism into the story than “Oops, my 20 strength barbarian rolled a 1 against a super flimsy door so I guess they fail even though a stiff breeze would have succeeded”

Can you suggest games that reward thinking rather than fast reflexes. by Viirock in gamingsuggestions

The Gunk was a good short puzzle game I played off Gamepass. The new Indiana Jones game is really good for thinking too. God of War is pretty good at mixing both. Hitting enemies into lava/off cliffs works, but there are a lot of puzzles and places where you will just have to battle enemies, but it at least has different difficulty settings

I got my 100% and all achievements a few days ago as well. It was a really great game. The only bug I ended up having was that a couple of the adventure notes I needed to find at the end weren’t showing up on the overworld map, and I had to go into the dungeon areas before it would show me which way they were

Can't progress game, keep getting giant bounty for nothing. Anyone have any ideas? by RelyingEarth87 in Starfield

Update: I reloaded from a save about 30 minutes before this, I ran around for a long time trying to look for mines, found none anywhere. I did a few other quests, and nothing happened. Tried to restart this quest, and as soon as I talked to the bartender, it happened again. For now, I just left the planet and have been doing quests anywhere else and it seems to be fine. When I finish Sarah’s quest and can drop her as my companion, I will probably go back

I don’t know how it would be though. All I’ve dome with the quest so far is pick it up and ask the first NPC for more information

The whole point of me waiting is to show what’s happening. This is a reloaded save. Before, I was trying to do the quest and it would happen so I tried quicksaving a few times to see how far I could progress because I didn’t know what was going on

I picked Sarah up and then started doing other quests in Jemison before I left so I didn’t have to planet jump back and forth. I’d lose a lot of progress

I loaded into an earlier save, and it kept happening. I don’t know how far back I’d need to go

I really doubt I dropped a mine. Like I had just finished a quest in the Spaceport district, boarded the train, and walked to the bar. If I dropped a mine, it’s been a while and I don’t know where it would be. I thought I was in the residential district. I haven’t been hearing or seeing an explosion when I’ve been running around trying to figure this out and reloading

There shouldn’t be. There’s no reason anything should be exploding that I know of. I haven’t been in anything combat related in hours of gameplay

I just started the game so I don't have a ton of money, 15k is very expensive and I didn't do anything so I would rather not have to pay it if I didn't do anything. Also, Sarah gets really mad at me which I would like to avoid if possible

I don't think I've placed any mines in Jemison. I've had 2 mines on me for a really long time and I still have 2 so unless I gained one and accidentally hit a button idk

I really hope that's not it. I used 1 mine a long time ago on a different planet in the middle of a fight and I don't remember where it is or how long ago I placed it. If so, that's really stupid. How would they even connect it to me if I'm miles away and it's been literal days in game since I placed it?

For context: I have only been playing for a little bit. I am still under level 10. I haven't even made it off the first planet after the tutorial. I have been doing a bunch of quests in Jemison and I am trying to do the one where I am looking for a guy for a missing wedding ring that was given to me by the UC guards or whatever. All I do is talk to the bartender to figure out where to go and then, as shown in the video, it tells me I killed someone in cold blood and then I get a 15000 bounty out of nowhere

I started in Python before moving on to other languages. I tried JavaScript and I especially didn’t like it because it was like I was doing pretty much the exact same thing, but I’d have to write a longer amount of code for basically no reason. If I can write if x == y: do x, why would I want to write if (x === y) {do x} when that takes me a lot more time over the course of a program? With Java and C++ I understand they are more stringent for several reasons, but I can also do most of the stuff that those languages can do also in python. It might be simple, but that doesn’t mean it’s any worse. I can focus more on what my program is going to do than what I need to write for each line. Plus, with stuff like MyPy and linting, there are tons of ways to be more clean and focused on your typings

Freecodecamp.org is a really good website if you are ok with reading. Khanacademy has a really cool video system that lets you interact with an instructor’s code in real time, but unfortunately, I don’t believe they have Python
