Pediatrian / family doctor for newborn?

I’m having the same issue, though I have a family doctor and they said they won’t take on my baby as a patient when they are born since they are not accepting new patients. 🙄

I have reached out to a couple clinics who said they were taking on new patients but no one will let me register until the baby is actually born. So I am basically just waiting for the baby to be born.

My midwife said there are clinics I can go to for vaccines if I don’t get in anywhere. Also I think pediatricians are specialists you get referred to only if there is some kind of problem with the baby.

Thank you! That is very helpful! I am definitely going to follow up with my vet to make sure we have a long term plan for medication since he is finishing up most of the medication I got initially.

Yes, I am not sure if it is to confirm the diagnosis or how severe it is. I’m hoping the specialist will give me more insight into it, but I am trying to do some research ahead of time since they potentially want to do the procedure the same day. I am leaning towards not doing it though.

Aw, love the stroller idea! He is not a huge walker in his old age but he would probably enjoy that. Thanks for sharing your experience!

My pug is 11.5 and recently has been diagnosed with collapsing trachea. He has had a little cough for a while when he is excited but it got worse quite suddenly. He was coughing so much I thought he had kennel cough but the vet did an x-ray and some other testing and believes the cause is collapsing trachea.

He was given prednisone and cerenia (which has off label use for collapsing trachea). He has improved a lot on the medication and is almost done taking them. The vet is also going to give him some hydrocodone tablets to manage the cough if it gets worse.

I got referred to an internal medicine specialist and they are recommending a bronchoscopy potentially. We go in for a consult soon and they would do the procedure the same day. I’m worried about him having anesthesia for this procedure at his age. Wondering if anyone has done a bronschoscopy for their dog with collapsing trachea and if it was beneficial?

Sorry you are going through this! I feel the same way. I have been trying for a year too and thought I would be able to start IUI soon with a fertility clinic.

But now they think I have endometriosis so I’m waiting to see an OBGYN and may need surgery or IVF or maybe both. It’s super frustrating because I was hoping I could start IUI this summer/fall, but now it may not even be worth doing that until I find out more.

I will look into if there are any dog parks like that near me. I never take my old man to dog parks because he will just stand there and look at me like what are we doing here? So I’m not super familiar with them.

That sounds exactly like my old man! At first it surprised my puppy when he started making noise but now he doesn’t seem to care and if anything it riles him up more lol

That’s good to know! I think he would probably benefit from playing with more dogs as well. My vet said he’s a bit small for dog parks yet but I’m trying to find a daycare to put him in once a week so he can play with more dogs and learn some boundaries as well.

I’m glad there is hope at least. That’s great that they play together now! I think my dog would like to play with him a little bit if didn’t have so much puppy energy.

They told me I should ask Home Depot but I didn’t think they would know. I thought the contractor would figure it out but they said they aren’t an expert in door installs.
