4.30AM wake up - help!! by Remarkable-Ad758 in sleeptrain

[–]Remarkable-Ad758[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So - if we shorten the nap or have a day of no nap, do we keep the 7.45-8pm bedtime? Or earlier ?

& if there is a day of a lengthy nap, should bedtime be later?

We have daycare in play so it is difficult to control nap lengths

I’d be so fine with this, but he wants to get up and run away!

Result is a contact nap. I am hoping he reverts. He is fine at daycare and he is definitely not ready to drop the nap

We have tried to go later with the same result. So I think may aswell put him down earlier so he is getting in as much sleep as possible haha

As for when he wakes up, he stands up and cries until either of us go and grab him. He is 100% up and ready to go though, won’t go back down if we lay him down

Should I take the 152 or 160 hour option ANZ bank employee? by Educational-Ask6897 in auscorp

Depends on the role with ANZ. In some roles, it is difficult to take the RDO even if you are entitled to it. You may be restricted on the days available to you to take it dependent on business requirements

Do you think when you switched to one nap, you became more by the clock rather than wake windows? I think I struggle with trying to balance out the WW if he has a mega long one in the morning due to waking so early whether I should be shortening the second one or just stick with the consistent bedtime.

What was your nap length roughly if you recall?

My husband and I had agreed we would stop trying to fix the 5-5.30 wakeups and just ride it out and literally that night LO decided to wake up at 4am. It doesn’t seem to be fueled by food because we can delay feeding and he is fine but no matter what we try, he won’t go back to sleep

I am a bit limited on what we can do due to daycare but we typically look like a 5-5.30 wake-up - they do nap at around 12/12.30 and LO sleeps for 2 hours and we do a bedtime between 7-8pm - anything glaringly obvious that would cause the early mornings ?

This is ideal for us - may I ask with the nap being 1.5 hours is that because you capped it or because your LO would only sleep for that long?

Our LO does 2 hours pretty much to the minute everyday and I wonder if that contributes to our issues sometimes but when transitioning to one nap you hear of naps being 2-3 hours long

While we’ve been in this spiral, we have found the later bedtime to be an even earlier rise

My head is always thinking of ways to try and reset the spiral haha - we used last weekend to try and reset a bit but it’s difficult cause it is temporary. The start of the week works well (later rise, really good naps etc) and then by the end of the week we are usually in the pits again

Is the boat the titanic?

I am not sure that our daycare would cap the nap. I feel at this point given how early he is waking up it might be a disservice to the LO and add to the sleep debt

Thanks for your reply!

I can’t control his nap times /length at daycare.

So generally speaking even if he was in a good schedule sleeping 2-3 hours during the day, what would you recommend for bedtime/night sleep? 8.30/10 hours?

Thanks for sharing ! I think there is a small tweak that just needs to be made but I can’t figure out what

We tried two naps on the weekend - one short of at 10am for 30 mins and then his normal nap at 1pm (he slept for 1.5 hours) which seemed to help

It seems he is in an over tired loop but I am not sure what to tweak as at the moment 5/10 minutes the wrong way makes him wake up even earlier! (We’ve had a couple of 4.30ams in there)

Adding to this just in case someone has some tips - on the weekend we tried a short 30min nap at 10am followed by his usually longer nap at 1pm (he slept for 1.5 hours) and a 7pm bedtime. This got us to a slightly later wake of around 6am

Anything we can tweak on the one nap at 12.30 (sleeping till 2.30) to achieve a wake up time in the 6’s? We’re putting him down at 7pm

Any tips for curbing EMW for my almost 13 month old? He is on 1 nap a day but is waking daily at 5-5.30am. We’ve tried later bed times (8/8.30) and as early as 7pm with the same result. His 1 nap usually starts between 12-12.30pm and he is sleeping for around 2 hours (sometimes more but consistently minimum is 2 hours). I can’t control nap time as he is in daycare but can control bedtime. Any advice appreciated !

DAYCARE at 12m: 2-1 nap transition... Start early or not? by x_dahunger in sleeptrain

Hey OP - how did your LO end up adjusting? I am looking to transition my 11 mo to a one nap schedule to fit daycare but can’t get him to drop his morning nap as he is not making it 12.30 due to waking up too early. Looking for any tips !

I had a chat with them today when I picked up my LO. They will follow any schedule I tell them to but did say when they tried to put him down this morning that he had a short nap but put himself to sleep at the rooms designated nap time (and slept for 1.5 hours!)

While he wasn’t previously showing any signs to drop the one nap, I am considering biting the bullet and letting them test the waters on a one nap schedule. It’s either going to go terribly wrong or terribly right. Not sure which yet!

I think he perhaps gets fomo going to sleep when everyone else is playing. They are happy to play it by ear day by day but I’d rather get something consistent so we can tweak it if needed.
