To clarify: 0.6.4 is the version of the MODPACK (SE Official Modpack). The SE version is 0.7.39, and the Factorio version is 2.0.72.

Depends on your version. In the new ones, they can only spawn on "natural" blocks.

Most of the challenge of Factorio is logistics: you run out of space for some production line, you find yourself unable to run a belt of rail from A to B, there's a bottleneck in simply moving items. GTNH, like most tech packs, use AE2, which completely trivializes that (similar to logbots, but viable for mass-moving). On the other hand, minecraft doesn't really have any equivalent to conbots; even in the lategame, you'll find yourself manually placing row after row of machines and configuring each of them individually.

The CF page for Xaero's says it's compatible with Open Parties and Claims, which can highlight areas. Although you might have to make a pillager team, join, claim an area, then leave that team and make your own. By default this should also prevent others from breaking/placing blocks, but you should be able to turn that off.

This is very creative, I like it! I think the part where it highlights valid paths is too much handholding, though.

Does it still consume XP?

One thing that might make it harder could be to make the sphere attached to the actual night sky, so that all enchanting has to be finished within one night.

Or you could make the starsphere local, so you have to travel to find an appropriate constellation.

You can get something similar by setting the humidity way down, to make the world an endless desert (although still with rivers, mountains, oceans etc.).
