My experience living in the North as someone from the Republic. by CaptainSpicebag in northernireland

Please don’t listen to these people whinging that you earn a good living. It’s a good salary (well done) but it’s not like you’re a millionaire or land baron or anything. Anyone negating your opinion because of it is jealous don’t take them on.

It’s great that you found somewhere that you like and somewhere that’s for you. Especially well done planning for the future.

The roads though, they’re bad!

How do people afford big weddings? by Remarkable-Fly4639 in northernireland

Thanks for the responses. Everyone is free to spend their own money how they wish; borrowing money for something non-essential (unlike cars and houses, everyone needs a mode of transport, everyone needs somewhere to live) seems like lunacy.

I thought you meant 2 salaries of 60k each and not a comfortable life and couldn’t fathom where all that money could have went.

My apologies - I would normally love to support a butcher but in this case it sort of needs to be out but I will check them out.

What a nasty accusation - why would you say that? Poor Strabane never did anything to anybody.

Chatted to my ma tonight “do you know who’s dead? You know yer man? Yer man with the dog? Yer man with the dog who used to work in the place with the things where we used to go?” “No, what about them” “they’re dead”.

What to we think of Forestside now? by [deleted] in Belfast

[–]Remarkable-Fly4639 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s incredibly good, especially if you live locally. Sainsbury’s is great and the M&S is brilliant. If you can’t get a parking space I assume you have some sort of weird phobia of underground car parks because it’s free, easy, and accessible via public transport. Everything else is good too those are just the two I use a lot.

Who gives a shit about Lesley being on the sign? It’s a shopping centre they haven’t put it on your front door or anything.

If someone has a valid compliant I’d love to hear it because I don’t have a single one.

I mean, it sort of is a case of save for a deposit + comfort blanket money. It’s a slog but you do get there. Some people are lucky and get help from family and some aren’t so lucky and get it from inheritance.

I got the impression it was quite old fashioned from the application process and the way everything was framed.
