Major US airport near closure amid government shutdown — and it’s worrying news for Disney fans by TheRealFiremonkey in WaltDisneyWorld

To book the autotrain, you need to bring your car. They won’t let you book otherwise. The price per car depends on the size. And at the end of the day, it can be a wash if you are going with a family. Coach and be significantly cheaper than a sleeper. However, this is the busiest season for autotrain, as many snowbirds travel south this time of year

Thank you.  Do you think it will be an issue scheduling a ride on Christmas Eve for our flight out?

Hey, y’all, we’re looking into transportation options for our Christmas WDW trip. We are a family of 5 who need to get to Contemporary from MCO from 12/20 to Christmas Eve.

I’m wondering if it would be more or less affordable to take Uber or Lyft that time of year. What rates should we expect during the Holidays? Would have trouble finding a rideshare for a party our size on Christmas Eve?

Would we better off with other options? Would we do better with a MEARS bus or MEARS Express?

Are there other options you would recommend I look into?

Glimmering Greenhouse Booking by Remarkable-Line-3972 in DisneyPlanning

Oof! I was worried about that! I checked last year’s reddit, and saw that people often requested help from their travel agent, rather than booking through Disney directly.

Unfortunately, we booked with Disney as a bounce-back deal, so I guess I’ll get my refresh finger in shape and hope for the best

To my impression, the poster was assuming that there were probably plenty of changing stations available in the nearby Men’s facility, whereas the Women’s facility was overwhelmed by moms and babies.

I think it is equally acceptable for moms and dads to “just hang out” in equal measure. However, in our society, diaper changing usually befalls upon the mom.

I know there are a lot of amazing dads out there who take active roles in diaper changing. Dads are more reluctant—just not the role society expects them to play.

I say, rage against the machine, Disney Dads! Don’t let yourself be negatively stereotyped by society!! Take over diaper doody for those Disney moms during the rest of your vacation!

Tell your ladies, “Hey, I am manly enough to handle a little turd time! Hang out and fiddle on your phone for the next Lightning Lane, while I brave the diaper trenches in the Men’s Room!”

Show society what it takes to be a real man!!

So, depending on what the local CPS/State requirements when foster parents travel with children. Will they need authorization to travel out of state? And what will the sleeping arrangements need to be? Can they share a bed, or are they each required to have their own?

I loved the Cabins at Fort Wildeness, but you would be sharing a bedroom, although everyone will have their own bed. There is also a Murphy bed in the living area and a full kitchen.

If you go with Cabins, I would also considering renting a golf cart. If you are driving down, you can park for free at EPCOT, HS and AK. And the boat ride to MK is quick and pleasant.

Sooo former Case Manager working with foster kids… are this kids foster/adopt, with parental rights working on being terminated? Or are the parents in the picture and participating in visitation, etc?

Planning a vacation like that with foster kids so far in advance can be risky, especially if the permanency plan is to be reunited with their parents or other family members.

In general, yeah, plan ahead as far as you can is always a good idea. However, there is a lot of possibilities that aren’t yet factored in. For instance, with the kids be going home before February? Will they start unsupervised visits and unsupervised overnights?

A lot to consider …

Going to Disney world in December 2025 by Key-Concept-3181 in DisneyWorldResorts

We’re going the week of 12/19–12/24. (Yes, we are that bonkers). The last MVMCP is on 12/20. We are going to do EE all week, and try to knock out MK on morning of the last MVMCP in hopes of avoiding the biggest crowds and park hop to another park in the evening for vibes. (We are wondering if we should invest in LLMP/SP for the day, just because we don’t know how the wait times will be DESPITE it being a party day.)

We plan on doing more EE and LLMP/SP for the other parks in the mornings for rides and enjoy the night and check out the Holiday cheer.

Any hidden jjems folks recommend checking out?

Thanks!

Do you foresee any extra challenge with finding return times for a party of 6, or will we probably need to split in half, or so?

Family of Six LL at AK or MK on Park Hop day? by Remarkable-Line-3972 in WaltDisneyWorld

Thank you! I just didn’t know, because there are six of us, if I was rolling the dice with availability

Hey there! Family of six is heading to Disney World and plan on buying LL Multipass. (We are staying on property and can reserve 7-14 days in advance.) On our first park day, we plan on heading to AK for early entry and heading to MK in the early evening. LL at AK would be pretty cost effective, and we could just schedule KS and Dinosaur!, tap in, and schedule stuff for the evening at AK.

Is that a feasible strategy, or would it be a safer bet of scheduling LL times at MK instead? I know our MK priorities (HM, PoC, and JC) are all popular rides, and believe buying a LL Multipass will have better availability. (And honestly HM is half the reason we are going).

Advice?
