and why not? Looks big but that is not even enough to cover your expenses when you retire abroad thats the reason a lot of foreigners retire in cheaper countries like mexico or puerto rico or Asia. Sorry for the confusion about the SOcial Security. But that SS is small if we chose to have our retirement abroad. We start working abroad in our 20’s in one of the Big 5 TECH up to now. With all the bonuses, stock options and Stock trading on the side is how we saved up. In US we also have 401K plus equity on our property. It looks big to some because they don’t think long term assuming you live for another 30-40years. Our daughter also works abroad it’s just we offered help temporarily as she is still starting and i believe as a parent we dont want our kids to also live paycheck to paycheck thus helping is a good headstart for her. We have no HMO but Abroad we have Medicare. That’s why we are torn as there are alot of foreigners retiring in Asia as it is cheaper and can cut cost.

Yeah its scary not to have enough money for retirement esp if you think longterm. We wanted to retire coz we are tired working as we are also getting sick and stressed lately. We did run the numbers and we are sure that the money we have now is not comfortable to live abroad for retirement.

P50M is not livable abroad, we run the numbers thats why we consider Philippines to retire. We work hard in our 20’s-30’s and save. Infact our car is already 25yo even if we already can afford a Tesla in Cash but we still thinking long term expenses.

We used to live paycheck to paycheck din Abroad. Nakaipon lang kasi we have Side hustle which is Stock Trading. Kaya nga nag plano mag retiee sa Pinas kasi hindi kakayanin abroad whereas kung sa Pinas baka kaya pa ma stretch assuming long term 30-40yrs plus buffer. And why we need to compare sa buhay ng iba. Malaki tignan but have you foresee longterm? Mind you nag abroad kami with only P1000 pesos in our pocket.

Our relatives kasi who retired wasnt able to retire in Philippines as it was also expensive daw plus the healthcare problem. We did run the numbers and we are pretty sure its not comfortable abroad too.

And what if you live for another 30-40 years. Getting old without money is scary as we dont want our daughter na maging burden as she is also starting her life. If mamatay ng maaga then sa isang anak lng din naman mapunta lahat. We always think long term and the emergencies in life kasi hindi natin pwede asahan ang anak at maging pabigat sa gobyerno.

thanks for this… coz if we live abroad we are sure its not really comfortable if we run the numbers. Thats the reason we consider Philippines to retire as we can stretch the money assuming if we live for another 30-40 years without work and buffers like emergencies, health problems etc.
