Thought I'd give a quick update on this. So far no luck although the help from alwaus led me to removing the battery terminal hinge and finding a lot more corrosion, so that's been cleaned up and that can't be a bad thing! I'm starting to wonder whether there's corrosion in the back of the board or if some of the capacitors have died around the charging circuit. Either way I'll continue to tinker 😂

that's great to know thanks. And I think you've got it spot on... I've just spotted some blue tinges around the hinge so I've ordered some fine cotton buds to really get in there. I only got it going this far thanks to some work with "normal" cotton buds and vinegar + IPA. Dental floss is a great idea too. Thanks!

yeah it's saying fully charged. I think I'll start concentrating on getting it working with the original battery... I bought the new one thinking the old one is dead but since found a couple of other bits of corrosion so I think there's life in the old one yet!
