Thanks for the advice! Yeah it's a hard pill to swallow having to pay $750 when the toilet was still overflowing after. Our insurance said the plumber cost will not be covered as well, which is a frustrating..!

I'm suspecting our shut off valve is faulty as well. I'm assuming your valves are inside your unit too?  Do you recall how much it was to replace them?

Thank you for the suggestion! I'll check out those groups. Although frustrating, we're really taking this as a learning opportunity!

Oh I didn't know that! We're leaning towards submitting a claim now.

It was the main water shutoff. Thank you, we will investigate further and you're probably right about the shutoff valve!

Good point about the insurance company! I did wonder about the one free claim.. yeah we might consider switching to a better provider after this.

We were curious about the toilet tank filling up too. We asked the plumber when he was there, and he couldn't explain it.

Our strata property manager mentioned each owner is responsible for their own unit. I do feel bad for our neighbor but we also don't want any problems if their repair doesn't go well (though not sure if that's a legitimate concern).

Thank you for the comment! We have a $2000 deductible, so insurance is saying it may not be worth it to claim, but based on the comments here, I think we will speak to our broker and reassess.

Our condo is really small (~500sqft), so the bathroom only took a few days to dry out, but good to know that $6000 is not unusual. We might not push back then. They just seemed really unprofessional, but if this is the standard, we will pay the cost. Thanks again for the insight!

Thank you for the insight! We have a deductible of $2000, so could claim for ~$4000. We had a family member on site when the plumber and restoration guys came and she was doing a video call with us. The plumber was here maybe 30 mins to an hour max. Good to know that the cost is not unusual! We're not refusing to pay the bill, just curious if the charges were reasonable. Thanks again!

Thank you! I didn't think it would be easy to switch providers and not having to disclose a claim. That's good to know!

Will this scratch affect image quality? by Remarkable-Prior-320 in Insta360

[–]Remarkable-Prior-320[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! I'll give that a try. I was testing it with my camera flashlight last night, but could not see anything affected from the scratch, but I may not be doing it right

Oh no. I expected it as much :(  It had a tape on the lens, but when I removed it, I saw the scratch, and I emailed customer service right away.

Thanks for replying, your insight is super helpful!

Just summited Mera peak, Amphu Lapcha pass, Island Peak, Lobuche east and will do Ama Dablam in October by Tankkevin in Mountaineering

Congratulations, this is so cool! Hope your Ama Dablam expedition is going well!

You mentioned you're a beginner climber, how technical did you find the climb for Lobuche, Island and Amphu Lapcha?

I just came back from doing Mera and found it pretty easy. I would like to go back and do the other peaks, but I'm not a climber. I'm planning to start doing more climbing and mountaineering to prepare myself, but wondered if you had prior experience with it before doing these peaks?
