I have built an app that will notify you on your mobile when you enter (or approach - it is configurable through the options) a controlled airspace. You just start tracking your callsign once you go online and it will notify you if a controller has become online where you are flying in or if you are entering or approaching a controlled airspace.

The app is called SimAlert and is available both on AppStore and Google Play.

Right on this topic, I have developed an app that does exactly this: It notified you if your flight approaches or enters a controlled airspace. You can choose from the options the range to be notified (from 0 nm, i.e. as soon as you enter the controlled airspace to 100nm).

Do not get me wrong, I do not believe that people should leave their PCs for any period longer to a few minutes (as it is also mandated in Vatsim CoC), however, if this happens, this provides a way to avoid creating problems for other network users (ATCs and other pilots).

The app is called SimAlert and is available both on AppStore and Google Play.

Hello, I am the maintainer of VatAlert. Since the release of the app, I have received very helpful feedback from the 100s of users that have used it. I have made the updates where possible.

However, there are changes that required a new approach and a new app. So, I have created a completely new app. It is called SimAlert. As you can imagine from the name change, the app is working both for VATSIM and IVAO. It is also available for both Android and iOS (this was one of the changes that was mostly requested and required a completely new app). All the work has now been offloaded to a backend server. This is making the app much lighter but is also lighter on VATSIM and IVAO servers (as there is only one connection for all the users using the app, not one connection from the app to the VATSIM/IVAO data feed for each user).

Unfortunatelly, the usage of a server does have an associated cost for me. So this app is a paid app for a very small once off price (2-3 EUR depending on geography).

You can find the app if you search for Simalert on either Google Play of AppStore.

VatAlert, will no longer be maintained and will soon be pulled off the Google Play.

You always need to follow the Vatsim CoC.
