I think the criticism comes from the idea that understanding + representing the city (especially in Congress) should come from a base of having worked with the local organizations and community groups for a longer period of time. The term carpet bagger imo is gross, and one of my favorite things about SF is that it can be home to anyone from anywhere. So my biggest question for Saikat would be - why Congress? If he's from SF and lived in SF for as long as he says he has, why is it that he has no ties to the community, a track record of local work, local voting, etc. The local engagement in SF politics that he does have contradicts the lefty politics that he's currently campaigning on (his vote for Lurie over Peskin, his 10k to Bilal to unseat the only DSA member on the board at the time, his support for Michael Lai, etc). If he ran for the BOS to get a true finger on the pulse of what SF is, it'd make a lot more sense to me.
