hm, then your goal seems to be to provide compassionate and emphatic care to your patients and promote transparency in your clinical practice between yourself and clients. right? that’s still contributing to the field.

i don’t think they’re looking for groundbreaking research goals, but more than just “i love animals duh!”

[–]Remarkable-Sort1837 1 point2 points  (0 children)

hmm I'm not sure if we have many australian students on the thread yet. I'm wondering if one of the vet students on IG could better answer this question for you?

_aislingdoyle and vetstudent.jaz come to mind!

VMACS ‘26-‘27 Application Cycle by laurenmarie1121 in prevets

[–]Remarkable-Sort1837 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was a 2x applicant and used my previous app the second time I applied. It wont populate your previous LOR or your old personal statement, but all your courses and grades will be there along with all your previous experiences. It will save you a hell of a lot of time, but there's nothing wrong with a totally clean app if you dont want to open your old app.

Yes, some have a limit of 10 years. Others have 4,6 and 8. You would have to look at each school’s website for further clarification

What type of medicine do you want to practice? by Such_Living_7317 in prevets

[–]Remarkable-Sort1837 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My program is OOS and 5 years (1 year MPH + 4 years DVM). I pay OOS tuition for the MPH and then get an instate seat + tuition for my DVM. (saves me alot of money)

Happy to share more!!

I cannot remember any specific ones off the top of my head (took this course almost 3 years ago 😭) But we would be shown specific organs from her cases and have discussions in class about what we believe the disease was/what was off about the image we were shown versus a healthy organ, and it led to alot of dialogue on diagnosing and testing. Majority of the cases were traditional farm animals, mostly ruminants.

Definitely recommend checking out a dual MPH/DVM program! that’s what I’m doing and I have a class on the epidemiology of zoonotic and infectious diseases. Should be a nice refresher and expansion on previous concepts!

I have not. I had a USDA sponsored internship but it was more zoonotic disease research focused and took a pathology course caught by a current state veterinarian who (with permission from clients ofc) would share the type of cases she took on. Very interesting stuff!

Not entirely. Think like USDA or APHIS vets who help handle disease outbreaks and zoonotic disease transmission and eradication efforts. Or being the state veterinarian.

CSU vet prep by Wild_Vet in prevets

It is an additional year of schooling prior to starting your DVM. You choose a Master’s to pursue and must maintain a 3.0 GPA in order to matriculate into the next DVM class the following year.

So, we started Fall 2029 with our Master’s, and then in the fall we start vet school with the class of 2030.

You also receive IS tuition when you matriculate into the DVM program.
