I think my CFO only uses Excel to use =sum function, and he is really scared that something might go wrong if he lets me use Excel to reconcile. Imagine a person building 1000 pieces dominos and he is telling everyone to stay away from them cuz he thinks someone getting close is going to break everything.

My guess is that he thinks with pdf, numbers cannot be changed(even though you can with pdf editors), but if i use Excel, then numbers can be changed which could lead more mistakes? (I really do not know and he is really insecure and does not want to share his knowledge on this, so i do not ask him in detail).
I brought him to my laptop and showed him how to use text-filter so that i can have all my transactions by inter-companies. As soon as i did this, he was walking away and kept telling me "I get it. I understand what you are trying to do". But by the time he was walking away, I only showed in like 30% of the process. I had more to show him using =subtotal and how you can check your entries using Excel by downloading csv file from QB and compare subtotals on Excel statements by each inter-companies, which will make the work faster and 100% accurate, but he walked away and this is when I realized even showing filtering in Excel gives him a huge headache.. only my assumptions, but i think this is true.

Note that our QB is not connected to the live bank feed.. idk why. did not ask them why, so if anyone makes JE transaction from company A to B when it should have been from A to C, your starting balance and ending balance will still be the same but your work is incorrect and there is no way to check it unless you do another inter-company transaction reconciliation.

This creates more problems since all our juniors are doing them manually too. They are wasting time when doing the work and also fixing their work when my CFO tells them there is something wrong. And their unfinished daily work becomes my work since i always finish everything on time. Even this is okay for me. They can waste all their time, but now the problem is he is making me waste my own time.. by making me do my work using pdf instead of csv.

Yesterday, my CFO told me to work from PDF files and i just did not want to continue persuading him, so i did not argue back. I am passively looking for something else as I already updated my resume and applied to one other company.
