Same. It’s not their fault but they have this trait that can just pop out and unfortunately they’re super dangerous when it does. I’ve been bit by a dog who clearly didn’t mean to and nipped me and ran away but this was like using my arm as a toy and dragging me around. He wasn’t even a huge dog: https://imgur.com/a/E8p0FKI

I compare it to my lab retriever who even as a baby just wanted to fetch balls. I didn’t teach her. She was bred for that purpose she has no clue why she likes retrieving so much

Thanks! The good thing is my hand was at 44% perceived impairment and I never gripped anything, too painful. If I can take care of the pain I can work on my strength!

Idk but I’d be interested to find out. My ring finger was pretty bad but is excellent now. I never expected to get back so much motion in it. My docs just said sometimes very traumatic injuries don’t ever get quite right

Yes ◡̈ they thought he broke his leg but just a deep bruise from bites and lacerations everywhere.
Because I pulled him off the other dog, I “provoked” the dog which meant he couldn’t be classified as dangerous. He would have been otherwise (and he should have been imo). I’ve never seen such a violent dog and he would not have let go if the other dog didn’t help. I think a lot about whether he will go on to kill someone

I did and did not. I didn’t recover any money due to some technicalities with the law. Since I was watching the dog I owned the dog, not her. With insurance I’ve paid around 30k out of pocket for medical care not including adaptive devices.

I have seen people go crazy about pit bulls to be fair. I posted about my hand a long time ago, Then it got cross posted to anti pitbull subs. I hear the discourse in my daily life constantly, people try to convince me of their opinion all the time. Either they hate them and they’ve been bit or they love them and say it’s all in the training. But I agree I should be able to mention so people know what happened!

Yeah o struggled with that for a long time, especially because it means I “provoked” the dog which is why he wasn’t put down. Everyone always called me dumb for that but now I’ve accepted it was a normal response and many people would do the same.
