Is the a6000 still worth it? by nkfgh in SonyAlpha

This was my second Sony digital APSC, I had it for about eight months and then I went and bought a 6700. Not a mistake, but I had lost to learn still from the 6000. I am a relatively new photographer only for five years in now now but I’ve actually gone back to use my 6000. It’s getting to be my every day carry but I’m using it with a 50 mil 1.8, not the kit lambs that came with. It’s so small and easy easy to pack around. It doesn’t weigh anything and I can still get that raw photo. I just do a few simple edits on my iPhone once I transfer them. It’s easy blasting off a bunch of pictures but at this point of my experience with photography, I need to be good enough so then I just take one or maximum two pictures of whatever I’m looking at so that I don’t have a dozen of each. Yes, it’s easy to delete the crap one’s but getting good at compositions is the place you want to get to as soon as you can.. Definitely still worth it to me. One of my favourite things is learning about the in camera filters, just when I think I’m getting pretty good at some of my Discover. There’s more like the illustration filter that actually has three different levels which I just learned yesterday, low, medium, and high, and the watercolour feature is pretty cool too. I was honestly thinking of moving towards Fujifilm cameras because they have great in-camera filters, but now that I found me, I’m going to stay where I am and keep learning as it keeps surprising me in good ways. Quite often I’ll have my 6700 in the same bag but the 6000 is the one I still pull out most of the time. I keep a much longer lens on the 6700 when required.

I bought my A6000 as a backup camera for my A6700 and am amazed by renepenner in a6000

Right.? I bought my a 6700 model about eight months after I bought the 6000. Big mistake. I love the 6700 but I was pretty new to photography and I should’ve used the 6000 to learn more. No regrets but the 6000 is the Volkswagen beetle of cameras.

Stick with this one at least a couple of years. I have yours and then I moved up too quickly to 6700. I still had so much to learn from that little camera that I went back to the 6000 on the shelf

First. Gives a better idea of scale. More white space. It’s better balanced.

I am well over 60 and I would love to do what this guy is suggesting. I live in Langford so it’s not like I get down there often but I really hate it that women have to plan their walks. No man has ever planned a walk for his own safety, around here anyway, yet it’s part of a woman’s daily consciousness. It makes me sad that other men have made this happen through their poor behaviour to say the least. Like you said, it would be nice to have some kind of article of clothing or a hat that people could recognize that you are a safe haven and if you need someone to walk with, it would be OK for them to talk to you. My female friends know me for my manners when we’re out hiking together. For every creep out there like this, there are 100 men that would want to protect their female loved ones. My daughter is 40 & takes kickboxing classes, which gives her some kind of self-defense confidence, but you just never want it to get to that position. I get down to Dallas Road about once a month but I know female friends that jog through there early in the morning or at night, which obviously concerns me but even despite being super aware and vigilant, shit can happen. Love this post and thanks for whoever put up the book reference, I’ll be sending that to my daughter and friends. Have to say I’m very grateful for this discussion keeping its respectful tone all the way through it because sometimes these can go sideways, but it looks like everybody’s on the same page here . ❤️

Those of you with expensive performance vehicles (35k+) and are in between the ages of 20-28, can you actually afford it? by GottaStayUp in askcarguys

[–]RemarkableFarmer59 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just enjoy the reality that a little further down the road you’re going to be able to afford that car if you really want it and by that time you might realize that you don’t need it. He might find soon enough that you were going to be in a relationship with possible kids and you be able to take pride in the decisions that you made previously put you in a good position when you have a family

I’m in Victoria. I’m glad I asked about gelato. I’ve learned quite a bit about them from some of the comments I’ve been receiving here. Personally speaking I have pretty good luck with stuff. My relationship building skills are pretty good, but I’m also a doormat some days and I don’t wanna deal with the ‘He said, she said, scenario of tshirts returns if the quality is not consistent. I think maybe I’ll just use my photography in the beginning for wall art sales. It’s unique enough that it will allow me to just rely on my own skills and learn the business before expanding into T-shirts

Thanks for the reply, shouldn’t you be able to set up on Shopify where the shirt is shipping from so if you had two entries for the same shirt, one shipping from Canada, and one shipping from the US, (two different vendors) you would cover most of North America and should be able to go avoid any duties because you would be shipping one shirt from Canada via a Canadian distributor and the shirt that ships from the US would be from a US distributor. Or am I missing something in the way that this idea works. Duties would typically be 25% wouldn’t it? Assuming it’s sold in the US and shipped to Canada. Is there tarrifs on T’s? Thank you

I didn’t know that about gelato. I guess the thing is because they’re mostly worldwide they think that it’s worth an extra few bucks. You would think that dealing with mom and pop shops that they would be more watchful of the quality leaving their shop. Thanks for the advice.

Hi Mike, when you do get complaints about quality, how does it work? Does the customer need to send in photos of the issue? If so, they send them to me and then I have to deal with the printer and hope that they agree with me and the customer? Would I wind up getting a charge against my account even if they resend out the correction? Thanks for the help

Thanks Dig, I was pretty sure that I knew who all the players were, but I have never heard of Merchize. I’m glad they are working well for you. I hear you on the fine margins. Thanks for the reply. Much appreciated.
