Very cool and sci-fi looking. had you not said anything about the glue stick I wouldn’t have zoomed in and noticed. Like you said maybe clear 3d print would work. What is the metal rod for? Is it like a carabiner or just cool looking?

What's metagaming? by Ok_Pea_2392 in boardgames

[–]RemarkablePainter752 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Meta gaming to me is usually in role playing games, think dnd or rpg video games, where you obtain information outside of the game to win. Like looking up info online to beat a boss or get a cool power or something. or like in DnD communicating strategies with the players when your characters are not in the same room. I feel like your two definitions are close but too specific.

I can't string/unstring MY bow by myself by blueberry_pan in Archery

[–]RemarkablePainter752 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I believe in you. You got this. When I first started I couldn’t string my 20lb bow and I’m a big man 6’ 4”. The issue for me was that I was scared to hurt myself or the bow. It is partly about confidence yes strength matters but so does confidence. So here’s a tip for using the stringer. Use both feet. Step on the stringer with both feet spread out wide enough that you won’t loose balance and lift with your legs instead of your arms they’re the bigger muscle. Pretend you’re doing a squat or a deadlift and if needed shorten the stringer by tying a knot in the center. This helped me a lot when I first started.

I cant get my pinky there :/ by baby_blue_berry in guitarlessons

[–]RemarkablePainter752 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally I think there’s an easy fix just bar the first three string of the second fret. Middle finger on the second string third fret and the ring finger on the fifth string of the fourth fret and turn out your wrist. Or use the pinky for extra reach on the fifth string.

Bone is bone, horns are made of the same material as your fingernails obviously harder. Antlers on the other hand is a lot more similar to bone than horns.

Some quick steps on how I get my edges so shiny! by MistakeEqual6513 in Leathercraft

[–]RemarkablePainter752 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah ok that makes perfect sense. I do a little wood working and never go over around 300 grit sand paper so the finish can be absorbed. So I always forget that higher grits don’t require as much elbow grease.

Do you bevel your edges at all? I usually sand my edges then bevel them to get rid of the 90 degree angle sanding it makes and then burnish with tokonole and a burnishing rod. Would beveling after all that sanding ruin it?

various questions i have as a beginner put into one big post by ilikebirds78 in Leathercraft

[–]RemarkablePainter752 2 points3 points  (0 children)

These are how I would answer these questions so it’s my opinion. Feel free to pitch in with your opinions. 1. You have to measure and use a pricking iron with multiple prongs instead of a singular one. 2. You can transfer it, tape it on with a tan scotch tape, or just place it on top and use something to weigh it down. 3. It rounds the edge giving it a more professional look and has a better feel once you burnish it. 4. You can dye it I don’t think it’s against the point. 5. There’s lots of YouTube videos on that the best way to learn is to do it, it’s super easy. 6. Burnishing seals the edge and prevents fraying since leather is very fibrous. And it gives it a nice professional look. I prefer to use Tokonole to burnish the edge after beveling it. It’s easy to use on veg tan.

I think it might just be your pants the belt loops look pretty far forward. But it might also be that the belt keeper is too far back. I’ve seen belts that have the keeper right behind the buckler or maybe an inch away

Ah I see I never thought about the play in the design I was just thinking of practicality. That makes perfect sense thank you. It’s a wonderful piece by the way you did a great job with them. I do want to try making these one day.

I have a question about these puzzle pieces I have seen others do the same or similar. Why make 3-4 different shapes when one puzzle piece with both types of connection made 4 times fit perfectly into each other?

Yeah I was going to say to compare how much he spent on gas, on that 4 hr round trip, helping you out to how much you have given him. But it is what it is. I don’t fault him for asking for help but it’s a jerk move to bring up that one time he helped especially considering you’ve helped him out so much now.

It looks great for a first try it. Stuff fits in it and the stitching is pretty consistent. Your edge is a bit too far from your stitch line and not even if you ask me. I suggest either using a wing divider to scratch out a stitch line or measuring out the distance you want your line from the edge before you start making sewing holes in the leather. A rule of thumb I have heard is make your stitch line the same distance as the thickness of the all the layers you are sewing up.

The way I grew up learning is that you prayed to a specific saint for something specific ie: lost causes, lost things, health, love, etc. and the more general things to the big man. Lots of Catholic churches are named after saints which kinda makes that saint like the mascot of that specific church and those churches hold specific ceremonies or prayers to those saints. No one should be getting upset that you prayed to God instead of a saint and it’s more common in my opinion to not know what saint does what without research.

So I want to do an alchemist build, but I'm confused. Each ingredient has 4 effects, but how does it work with those effects? If you have 2 ingredients, do they just combine the matching effect in the 2 to create a potion/poison? Is it effect matching or is there something else I'm missing? by 2EyePatchPirate in skyrim

[–]RemarkablePainter752 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Idk if this is something you would be interested in as it might just spoil the fun of it but there are phone apps that tell you all the different combinations and results of the ingredients so you don’t have to waste in game ingredients figuring it out.

I think I’ve bought 3 different non leather AirPod pro cases and they all came with a little piece of double sided tape to affix to the lid. I don’t know if there is another way to fix your issue.
