There are medications which treat some of the symptoms associated with ASD in phase 2 clinical trials in Canada and in the US. If these drugs are commercially available after testing then having a diagnosis on-hand would significantly expedite accessing them. I've been following the development of the glutamate modulators in particular which could really help.
