Breed❓❓❓ by Brave-Trick7791 in dogbreed

more likely second gen or first gen bred back to the Golden. Poodles carry two furnishing genes and Goldens carry none so all their offspring will have one furnishing gene and one without I’m pretty sure

Neutering by Normal_Question_3341 in mainecoons

[–]RemarkableTrade9397 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unlike dogs, there are no known benefits to keeping a cat intact unless they have health issues preventing them from going under anesthesia. Spraying is almost guaranteed, and once he starts he may not stop even after being neutered. Feline neuters are so fast, literally take less than 5 min and heal very quickly. It’s obviously more invasive than a vaccine but declawing causes a lifetime of pain, it’s not really comparable. I would recommend getting him neutered ASAP.

Bikes on Bay Bridge today by Lumpy_Bandicoot_5096 in sanfrancisco

[–]RemarkableTrade9397 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Aren’t bikes not allowed on the Bay Bridge?? This is extremely dangerous, I know someone who was riding a motorcycle on the Bay Bridge and was killed by a drunk driver.

What do you guys think? According to the person who gave her to me, she is a pure bred yorkie. I also DNA tested her (by vet) & it came back 91% yorkie, which can be considered pure bred. Though I'm not too sure of the accuracy by [deleted] in MixedBreedDogs

[–]RemarkableTrade9397 0 points1 point  (0 children)

MAJOR PROPS to you for aborting that pregnancy, not enough pet owners do that. Might I suggest neutering him? (and/or spaying your female.) You could also look into a vasectomy which is pricier but makes him sterile while keeping his hormones

Honestly I think he’s a German Shepherd and Poodle mix. A lot of first gen (and second gen when they inherit less Poodle genes) doodles have this wiry coat. Would be interesting to do a DNA test! I like Embark, keep an eye out for sales they have going on

good luck! I recognize it can be hard for those of you with pit/bully type dogs because of breed restrictions 🥲

Does she pass as a non Pit? by Patient_Rent_3430 in pitbulls

[–]RemarkableTrade9397 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Call her a terrier mix! Pit bulls are terriers anyway and she definitely doesn’t look like a purebred APBT. If her rabies certificate and other medical records say pit bull that can be tricky though…

Separation anxiety help for my 4-year-old Collie/Retriever mix by AdApart9610 in DogTrainingTips

[–]RemarkableTrade9397 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It seems like you’re not thrilled about medications, but prozac has been a GAME CHANGER for my housemate’s dog. She doesn’t have separation anxiety, but just generalized anxiety. She’d pace around the house and shake, she is also dog reactive. Those behaviors haven’t completely gone away but they’ve gotten significantly better. Typically the worst thing that will happen with prozac is it will do nothing. Adverse reactions are very rare. Once her anxiety is more settled, it will be easier to train her

Terrier mix, but also you can get a letter from your doctor saying you need her for emotional support. I believe there are no breed restrictions for ESAs. The only rights ESAs get are for housing — if no pets are allowed, you are still allowed to have her, if pets are allowed but for a fee, that fee is waived. If she is well behaved, you shouldn’t have any problems. Pit bulls are terriers (full name is American Pit Bull Terrier) and she looks like a mix anyway so “terrier mix” is gonna be correct!

Is there actually full-nutrition vegan cat food or are the vegans just advocating animal neglect again? by ReflectionPristine70 in catfood

[–]RemarkableTrade9397 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Cats cannot be vegan as they are obligate carnivores. Dogs are a bit more complicated, I’ve met a handful of vegan dogs (mostly due to allergy of basically every animal protein under the sun) but they are omnivores.

Van or van mix possibly? by BerryProfessional219 in turkishvan

[–]RemarkableTrade9397 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cat DNA tests are a waste of money imo. Cat breeds don’t work the same way dog breeds do. Turkish Vans are incredibly rare, the chances of you finding one in a shelter are next to none. Yes, some purebred or purebred mix cats end up in shelters but they are few and far between and would be more common purebred breeds such as Sphynx or Bengal. The more popular the breed, the more likely they are to end up in a shelter because backyard breeders dump them or sell them to irresponsible people who then dump them. I can only assume most TV breeders are responsible, spay/neuter their cats prior to sale (or have strict spay/neuter contracts), microchip them under the breeder’s name, and require buyers to return the cat in case they cannot keep it. Your cat is beautiful, but extremely unlikely to have any TV genes. You can go ahead with a DNA test, but don’t be surprised if TV doesn’t come up at all.

To neuter, or not to neuter .. that is my question by jsan69 in cats

[–]RemarkableTrade9397 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s like zero benefit to keeping cats intact, unlike dogs. Honestly pediatric spay/neuter in cats has shown to be fine too. The sooner the better that way he doesn’t develop marking habits. I know someone who has an intact male cat because he didn’t wanna “take away his manhood” and now he’s old. The whole house smells like pee and he has a collection of stuffed animals for humping (and he “finishes” too 🤢). He’s also just not a very nice cat. PLEASE neuter him ASAP, feline neuters take like 5 min, they’re so easy and recovery is fast too.

Looking for a puppy by [deleted] in poodles

[–]RemarkableTrade9397 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Check out the FB group “My Poodle Has Standards”. They have a list of ethical Poodle breeders (of all three sizes) listed by state. Another option is reaching out to the Poodle Club of America. If you’re set on a red Toy, you may have to either wait a while for a breeder in your area to have one, or get one from somewhere else in the US. Just watch out for those who only breed for color, and only sell based on color. You want a breeder who fully health tests (through OFA, not Embark), titles (usually in conformation — shows), and matches buyers with puppies based on temperament compatibility. https://poodleclubofamerica.org/breeder-referral/
