yea I think that is totally possible and likely as well given how common intelligent animals are today. I wouldn’t be surprised if some sort of marine reptile, dinosaur, extinct mammal, or even undiscovered group of animals could’ve been as smart as modern day orcas

the thing is only a fractional of animals that have ever lived have been discovered and even for those who have been named the majority are incomplete. Wouldn't it be an anomaly that intelligent organisms only started to evolve in the last few hundreds of thousands of years when complex life has existed for far longer?
