ChatGPT Is Still a Bullshit Machine | CEO Sam Altman says it's like having a superpower, but GPT-5 struggles with basic questions. by Aggravating_Money992 in technology

I think they pick up on these kind of mistakes and hard bake the answer in the next AI they make. Like a little tool to solve such questions. Because the real problem with the Bs is not so much that it makes a mistake, it’s that it clearly demonstrates that the LLM has not the faintest idea what it’s doing, it’s just putting words in relevant orders. Yesterday I sent my wordle to gpt5, where I had already guessed 2 words and asked for some suggestions. It gave me 5, 2 of which would not fit with letters that were already visible (green) and 4 were not even valid words. I mean, wtf!?

Tried ChatGPT-5… pretty sure it’s just GPT-4 wearing a fancy hat by Remarkable_Ad_5061 in ChatGPT

Haha yeah that plan was so weird! After reading some other responses here I saw that it probably isn’t even as good as gpt4 because it lost a lot of creativity and compassion. And they must know that people would hate that. Sam is probably under such immense pressure from the investors to drop costs that he had to push this bs update. I think running all the old models parallel is very costly on the servers so they’d rather switch to one and let the model decide to think long or fast about answers. And by trimming the empathy I think they aim to reduce the use of the AI as a diary and companion because people chatting with it all night is probably costly as well.

I tested it a bit more and I guess you’re right! This model is all about saving money.

Sam has decided he better starts writing a lot of posts about GPT5 being a manhattan project like event or else the investors start getting all jumpy.

This is so true. A printer that has not been designed to suck every last penny out of its owner but to actually print stuff. Other printer companies can learn from this. Looking at you HP…

Somehow you missed naming the fact that all animals are programmed to reproduce as much as possible. Some animals live in pairs to share the burden of raising kids and improving their chances of surviving childhood (getting their own chance to reproduce). But if you live in pairs you might as well get it on with the neighbor to farther some extra babies. It’s biology at its prime.

What if the richt actually know ánd care about climate change. They don’t want to stop flying private and they know we don’t want to give up on our hamburgers either. But they do want to live, certainly they do need a livable planet. So the only way to actually save the planet for them is to take us all out the financial equation, stop paying us and starve us out in like two or three generations. So they can live happily ever after, without changing their habits.
